They spend all year driving me mad, eating too much, making mess, ignoring me and spending all my money.. but today they have brought me breakfast in bed (croissants!), given me silly home made cards and a bunch of flowers, and made me 3 cups of tea so far! Aww..maybe they're not so awful after all! Smile
Anyone else been surprised by their teens today?

A tale of two teens here - one delightful - got up, made breakfast, home made card, hugs. Other rocks in from a party last night (she did text me to say happy MD at midnight) broken up with boyfriend, tears and wailing, gone to bed.

my day started well.

Findingross · 11/03/2018 12:53

My 19 year old is cooking me a roast - his first time - not too bad as he got in at 4am! My 15 year old has vaguely acknowledged me!
Love them lots and it’s just nice having them around. Wouldn’t want anything more.

ThroughThickAndThin01 · 11/03/2018 12:55

Had nice texts from my two who are away at uni, and a card in the post from one of them, And a grunt and a card from Ds3 whose still at home. I’m happy enough with that.

Shedmicehugh · 11/03/2018 12:55

I’m amazed you have teens who are out of bed Grin

Aprilmightmemynewname · 11/03/2018 12:58

2 pre teen dd's hid plastic eggs containing a note each saying why they love me!! 2 teen ds's bought me little gifts - all lovely, except the half a Toblerone ds couldn't wait for me to open and share!! Had a lovely breakfast around the table and all on making afternoon tea now!

TheSecondOfHerName · 11/03/2018 13:02

18 year old bought me a mini bottle of prosecco and some chocolates (with money he earned from his part-time job).
Actually quite touched / impressed by this.

AlmostDoneWithThis · 11/03/2018 17:39

My two are both away at uni. It have form for going to town on birthdays/Christmas/Mother's day etc.
We're having a family dinner tomorrow at a restaurant near one of their unis, as it is Dhaka's birthday on Tuesday. They both texted and called today saying they're excited for that and have surprises ready.
Bless them.

My 20 yr old DS is at Uni but arranged for me to meet him in his lunch break at work today so he could see me. He combined his breaks so we'd have time for lunch together - he offered to pay even though he's as poor as a church mouse. I had a some make up, my fav Thornton chocolates and a special smile mug as well as a card filled with a long paragraph about how much he appreciates me and everything I've done for him and how much he loves me ❤️.

Iluvthe80s · 11/03/2018 20:22

11 year old dd made me a lovely card. 15 year old ds bought me a card which I was really surprised by.....he forgot last year. We also had mil and fil for early dinner and ds made effort to cone home early and eat with us. ..which was nice

MsAwesomeDragon · 11/03/2018 20:25

18 yo dd got me a box of my favourite chocolates, did the dishes then did revision/homework all afternoon, leaving me in peace.

VioletCharlotte · 11/03/2018 20:27

Ahhh this is a lovely thread. My two teen DS bought me lovely cards and flowers and spent the afternoon with me and other family. They're not so bad really!

Hoppinggreen · 11/03/2018 20:28

My 13 year old made me a montage of photos off her phone to celebrate some of the good times we have had together this year.
Yes I did cry

GrooovyLass · 11/03/2018 20:29

18yo DD with ASD made my dinner, complete with pudding. Quite an achievement - she's quite scared of the oven and she's so insistent that timings on the packet/label have to be exact that things are often under- or over-cooked. But it was lovely!

PingPongBat · 11/03/2018 20:31

I had home made cards from mine (they're 16 & 18!).

DD is really poorly & has said she'll 'do' mother's day next Sunday (I've been promised a cake and cups of tea as long as she's better). DS came home after his Sunday job instead of going to his girlfriend's for the evening. Bunch of flowers from them both came on Friday - but I suspect DH was behind those, as ever!

TheletterZ · 11/03/2018 20:32

My 13 year old brought me a printed potato (www.textapotato.com) and a card saying 'I tolerate you' I’m very happy as she is secure enough to be able to joke.

11 year old made a calendar promising 3 cups of tea and 1 breakfast in bed a month for a year!! We'll see if it actually happens.

DailyMailDontStealMyThread · 11/03/2018 20:38

1 card each all telling me individually how much they appreciate and love me

DD 16 started with “I know we don’t always get on but, “ Smile

And DD 13 ADHD & ODD wrote “ I appreciate how you always have my backbeven when I know I’m in the wrong” Grin she has really struggled with school so I attend a lot of meetings and phone calls supporting both of them.

And I got a jar of penny sweet - result!

IKillGiants · 11/03/2018 20:40

No card, no present, no wishing me a happy mother’s day.

Pointed out this afternoon to teen that it would be nice to at least say happy mother’s day to me and got a reply of “happy mother’s day for fucks sake”.

Fab!

DailyMailDontStealMyThread · 11/03/2018 20:45

Completely forgot my birthday last month though and called me an fucking witch when I reminded him it was his day for picking up after the dogs.

Swings and roundabouts

willdoitinaminute · 11/03/2018 20:59

Lovely card fro DS13 who is entering the Jekyl &Hyde stage. He wrote his own message “ Thanks for always being there for me” . I will keep it close just to remind me how lovely he can be. I suspect I shall need it over the next few years.

namechange2018 · 11/03/2018 21:16

My eldest DD 16, who has put me through the ringer (massive understatement) in the past, gave me a lovely card with a handwritten message that I'm the best Mum ever and she loves me. She also bought me some wine and chocs but the card means the absolute world to me.

My younger DD13 gave me some chocs and a lovely card too. She helped me eat the chocs, obviously!

The thoughtful messages in the cards mean everything to me. I'm tearing up again.

Makes me realise that I am doing the best job I can and they know it.

CeeCeeMacFay · 11/03/2018 21:24

16 year old ds bought me a book I had mentioned several weeks ago so was surprised he remembered and some yankee candles as well as a lovely card saying he loves me. Lost my mum late last year and was dreading today but his thoughtfulness has helped a lot.
