You may have seen the post on social media today about the teenager who posted a pic of her headphones and got a dickish response. If not, this is it (originally in the Daily Fail but not posting that link to spare you all) https://www.google.co.uk/amp/www.mirror.co.uk/news/weird-news/teenagers-photo-new-headphones-proves-8682831.amp?client=firefox-b

That's my DD! It's absolutely crazy how its spread like wildfire. So proud of her, she's a pain in the arse a lot of the time but she don't take no shit from no-one! She's had contact from all sorts of media outlets...I think it must be a slow news day! 😂

good news for her then!!

what do media outlets want her to do?

emsiewill · 22/08/2016 20:17

They just want quotes from her - it's not news but seems to have struck a chord. She had 50,000-odd likes on Twitter & 30,000-odd retweets so I think they must have picked up on it from there somehow.

People keep saying "oh I saw that but didn't realise it was DD". All a bit surreal really.

Bloody hell, Newport to Hereford sixth form is a bit of a trek! (Folly lane girl myself)

emsiewill · 22/08/2016 20:24

Lol! It's a good sixth form, worth travelling for. Direct train, 50 minute journey, subsidised by the council.

Your daughter is a legend! She should read everyday sexism and girl up by Laura bates (if she hasn't already!) she would LOVE them. Good for her more women need to speak out like this.

noblegiraffe · 24/08/2016 19:42

Good for her, she made a bloody good point about the headphones and an even better one about the article.

JonathanDunn · 24/08/2016 20:09

Your daughter is really beautiful and smart as well. Smile How does she feel is she happy at the response/going viral?

TwentyCups · 24/08/2016 20:19

Good for her!!!!

emsiewill · 24/08/2016 20:21

She seems to be taking it in her stride, has an interview with local (Welsh speaking) radio tomorrow and has been asked to appear on Welsh TV as well (a programme about the internet, a feature about this sort of thing happening to girls).

She is a pain in the arse a lot of the time, but I feel like we've done something right somewhere along the line...

Well done Catrin!

Intelligence, courage (for speaking out) and beauty. What a combination! You must be so proud op.

Fuckoffdailymailyoufuckers · 24/08/2016 20:26

Fucking right on. She's awesome.

bakeoffcake · 24/08/2016 20:32

Good for her! You must be a very proud mum!

Mycatsabastard · 24/08/2016 20:35

Your daughter rocks!!

You must be incredibly proud of her, bright, articulate and full of sassy put downs. Damn right you've done a good job!

Love her hair btw, gorgeous colour.

emsiewill · 24/08/2016 20:35

She is particularly pleased that the story was on Buzzfeed - they actually contacted her to talk about it, rather than just recycle the original Daily Mail story.

I can only imagine how long it took her to choose which picture to give them to use! Grin luckily she has plenty of selfies to choose from...

Please tell your daughter that she's awesome Star

CheckpointCharlie2 · 24/08/2016 20:52

good job she is great!

emsiewill · 24/08/2016 20:59

She really reminds me of my mum, which is bittersweet, as my mum died the year before dd was born. My mum did not suffer fools, had a highly developed social conscience and was as sarcky as they come!

TealLove · 24/08/2016 21:01

She is awesome!!

WindInThePussyWillows · 24/08/2016 21:03

Love her and soooo pretty!

winchesterfan · 24/08/2016 21:07

Your daughter is amazing and inspiring!

She also has the most amazing hair colour... I love it!

AnyFucker · 24/08/2016 21:11

I don't actually understand the story but your daughter is very beautiful (said in a non creepy way)

Sooverthis · 24/08/2016 21:15

I really don't understand either
