Prom / Leavers Ball - are your boys just not fussed?

All my friends with Y11 DDs have been dress shopping / booked hair appointments / arranging the pre-ball party and the after-ball party / limo / nails / tans etc etc

DS is just not bothered, he wants to go, I've forked out £50 for the ticket along with another £35 for leavers year book, leavers hoodie etc etc but he doesn't care how he gets there or what he wants to wear.

It's just boys isn't it? He has ASD so I don't know if he has just not picked up on stuff and I don't want him to be the only one left out when he realises everyone else is going together in a helicopter or some OTT gesture

DS1 hasn't decided yet. Hmm He will be arriving by car if he is though not fire engine/tractor/horseback etc.

Dd last year planned her prom outfit, transport, hair etc for 6 months.

Ds1 is this year. He might get a suit. Or not.

My DS isn't going to his year 13 prom, didn't go to the year 11 one either. Most of his friends went but it's just not his cup of tea and he certainly didn't feel like he'd missed out.

My 16yr old DS had previously had no interest in going at all.. Last night he decided he will go as two of his friends are now going..
So we now have to try and get a ticket (he thinks they've all gone now!) and get him suited and booted.. I'm actually quite pleased he now wants to go instead of staying home again :)

Neither DS made much of it but eventually got suits and haircuts Grin.
They both enjoyed the prom and the after party but I'm glad they weren't over invested like all the girls seemed to be.

My ds wasn't particularly bothered, but went along with getting a suit etc.
But he came home saying it was the best night ever.

We bought one. And I'm glad now that we did, as he's now applying for jobs so has the suit ready for interviews.

He has to wear shirt and tie etc for 6th form so wondered if I could kill 2 birds IYKWIM. Where did you get the suit snozzle? DS has a 28" waist and a 34" leg. I sense trouble ahead....

DS had zero interest last year. I didn't know there was a prom until weeks later.

Glad to hear it is not just DS then. I was thinking of buying a suit for the reason that snoozle said.

Had the same with my ds(16). He said he'd go on condition that he could wear what he wanted!Confused

Sparkling - we got it from Burton. I wasn't prepared to spend a fortune and they had what he wanted, just a plain black skinny trousered suit. He's similar size to your ds, 30 waist, 34 inside leg.

Sparkling DS1 bought a fashion suit from next in pale grey. Never worn it since.
DS2 got a nice black suit and a red waistcoat from matalan and has worn it loads in the past year. Job interviews, funerals Sad and presentations.
He is now 36"inside leg so it's looking a bit short.

My DD didn't go last year - she probably would have gone if her bf hadn't claimed to have misunderstood and left it too late to get a ticket. Saved a load of dollas but I hope she doesn't regret it (when her and the bf have fallen out).

My 16YO DS never goes to school dances and says that facebook is a load of pointless rubbish - I wouldn't be surprised if he doesn't bother with his prom when the time comes.

36" inside leg SS. Shock DS seems to still be growing I think he might be heading for that.

So black would be good. I will have to do some research.

Not worth spending a lot on a suit if they haven't finished growing which boys sometimes haven't. DS2 was late starting his growth spurt but just keeps on growing.....
No cost at DC old school. The hall gets tarted up and it's held in school with a red carpet outside. The big cost is the transport. Rural school and the streets are lined with people watching them arrive.
Most memorable at DS2's was the girl with biker parents who roared in on the biggest motor bike I ever saw along with an escort of serious biker types. She wore leathers instead of a prom frock.

YY DS's school is rural. Most pupils bussed in from villages. I am imagining tractors.

My DS has a year to go but isn't the slightest bit interested in the prom/kilt thing whatsoever. Boring git! Grin

Yes I had fond visions of tractor arrival like floats on gala day. There were a few tractors but mostly OTT vehicles. DS went with a friend in his dad's jag

Sparklingbrook Last year Burtons did some offers for suits in the lead up to prom season. Keep checking the website. If I remember the better deal was the one after half term but may be different this year.

Not worn it since and has a good old growth spurt so now he will need it for interviews I doubt it will fit!!

DD 16 has been planning her dress for months though we have not yet actually bought it.

Dd15 rarely leaves the house. He as scarcely any clothes and is totally not interested. I cannot imagine he wil want to attend next year. (Though he is currently revising and aiming for A* in lost subjects).
