dd went out at 10a.m and I don't know where she is

dd age 14 went out to a friends this morning to watch a few dvd's, I thought she would be home for tea but there's no sign of her. Her phone is off. I know the street where friend lives but not the house, i'm worried sick how on earth do I find out where she is.

Can you find the friends name in the phonebook, if you know the street & phone ??

Do you think she's gone out trick or treating - there's tons of kids out at the moment where I am. Do you have any of her friends' numbers? Hope she turns up soon.

Longwaytogo, do you know the phone numbers of any of her friends?

I would call them all to check if she has been seen & to get an idea of where exactly the friends house is that you think she has been with.

Without wanting to panic you I would set a deadline by which if you've heard nothing you call the police.

I hope you hear from her soon.

nope don't have any phone no's how bad a mum am i? But tbh she is a bit of a stay at home and only has 3 friends that she really bothers with.

She had band practice tonight and its not like her to miss it

I wouldn't think she would be out trick or treating as she has never been before and goes against what she believes in.

Yes, I'd probably give it until 10pm or something - assuming she's gone out trick or treating, or to watch fireworks, and then I'd phone the police. Fingers crossed she's home long before then though.

Would she have gone to band practice straight from her friends, or would she have had to come home to pick her stuff up?

Keep trying her mobile and if you know her friends' surnames it might be worth trying to look them up in the phone book if you know a rough area?

Do you know who she was out with this morning? Age, name, description? You could knock on a door or two in the street. Someone will point you in the right direction.

i've tried the phone book and no joy with that

she would have needed to come home as band practice is 16 miles away so its a car job.

can you conatct dh, is he at band practice, she may have gone if he's there. Sorry you've probably already thought/tried that.

try not to worry too much yet, i'm sure she'll turn up! my ds(13) used to frequenty stay out late making me frantic.

maybe have a plan of action to get you through the next couple of hours - sounds a bit dramatic but you could maybe phone local hospitals at 9pm to check, then phone the police at 10pm. Spend the next hour trying to find info on her friends.

Sorry - I'm a manic planner so this is possibly how I'd be handling it (in a not very calm way...).

longwaytogo, one thing I would say is that teenagers can lose track of time and perspective that means she will almost certainly turn up, unfazed and wondering what all the fuss is about.

And when she does, make sure you get mobile contact numbers for all her friends off her, and a promise to always have her mobile switched on!
