What time is your 14 year old allowed out 'til on a school night?

My DS reckons boys his age are allowed to stay at the skateboard park until 10. Apparently he's conspicuous as the boy with Victorian parents who make him come home at 8pm.

I think it would have been 9 on a school night.

About 9ish, and that's after homework and revision has been done - 10pm is bedtime, and no, I don't care what other parents allow their children to do, DCs

Ok thanks. I think that's fair enough then. He'll be allowed out until 9pm but only if all his homework is done and ideally if he hasn't forged my signature on his homework book again.

Gawd I'd want them home for dinner tbh
Go to school, go round mates, home at 7pm for dinner & homework

DS1 (14) doesn't even leave his bedroom in the evening.

Dd goes to drama and guides and gets home at 9.30pm. Other nights in the dark it's 8.30pm due to us not living near her friends.

DD doesn't venture out either Sparkling - at least I know where she is and that's generally picking a fight with her brothers or straightening her hair aka as revising

9pm here. Before the night crawlers come out.
9pm is universal home time for ds friends also.

Before dinner - which us usually 6.

After dinner it's homework/shower/bed

Not at all Monday -Wednesday and only for an hour or so Thursdays. And he's 16 with the same rules.
I'm a little flexible in hot weather though!
All hell breaks loose at the weekends.

Sir oh yes, bickering with DS2 and faffing about on Skype generally.

8.30-9pm on school nights, he usually only goes out 3 nights per week and has guitar practice tonight

Until dark at the moment in this house (only been going out after school since about November).

winter ? 6pm

summer (when it's light), could stretch to 9pm if doing something specific

if simply hanging around, 8pm

mine doesn't leave the house though, except to go to school

When we had a 14 year old they weren't allowed out on a school night! DSS2 is 16 and he is out tonight having dinner with his great aunt. This is an exceptional treat! And he has promised to be home by 10 pm.

Dd doesn't go out. No meeting friends other than the weekend. Weeknights are for sports clubs, supper, homework. Bed by 9.

Back for when its dark, unless at an organised event from which they have a lift home. Its not the time so much as the 'hanging around.

It depends what he is doing.

Youth club in our road finishes at 9.30

Scouts finishes at 9.15, it's further but he walks home with his dad.

DS15 is only allowed out on a Friday night until 7.30pm. Never on a school night although I am a bit more flexible in the summer. He too is a serious skateboarder but I don't like him out in the dark. I expect I will have to loosen the reigns a little when he leaves school in the summer.

Mine doesn't go out like that. Does her horse then home.

Mine doesn't go out of the house either.
But I would go for 9 pm, during the summer.

They don't go out unless there is a reason eg theatre trip, concert at school, a big party in the last week of term. Dd1 who is 15 went to a concert last term but at a venue a quarter of an hour away. Got back around 11pm in a taxi with a friend's father on his way home from work. Mid-week there is always homework & music practice to be done.

Ds1 only goes to football training during the week and then home. Apparently "all" his friends are hanging around on the street until 10-11pm. I always say "how nice for them. Aren't you unlucky you have parents who expect you to come home from school, do your homework and eat your dinner? Oh well only 3 years til you leave home and go to uni"

He does go out on weekends, during the day, he's normally home by 7-7.30 because its "too cold"

Should just add - neither of my teens just go out to hang around somewhere. If they go out on a school night it's to an organised activity like Scouts.
