Is my nipple piercing pierced wrong?

Sunflower960 · 26/02/2024 09:44

Hi!

Can swelling make it seem like your nipples are pierced wrong?
I had both nipples pierced 2 days ago.
My left nipple is swollen but my right is fine.
It appears to have been pierced a bit wrong but my question is if it can just appear this way due to swelling.
I'm praying I don't have to take this out and have it repierced. 🙏

Iv put a picture of the other one for context.

Thank you!

It does look a wee bit further back I guess. But is there a right and wrong? And who is looking so closely for it to matter? I can’t see how it could move forward even if re pierced as it’s too close surely?

NCfor24 · 26/02/2024 09:49

I think they both look ok. You have to wait a long time for sufficient healing to have it repierced I'd have thought. I had mine (just the 1) repierced 2 years ago after 20 years and I was told it was tougher to pierce due to scar tissue.
Give yours 6 months to heal and see how you feel then.

I'm more concerned of healing if it is not pierced where it should be.
If it healed like this I would be happy, you can't tell when it's not close up.
I'm only worried that it will halt healing as this nipple is a lot more tender than the other and although you can't tell much on the picture, it's quite a bit more swollen. I'm wondered if this was due to it not being pierced in the right place. If there is a right or wrong 🤔

Hi, I had both mine pierced and one took longer to heal, had more niggles than the other.
I think the placing looks great so I wouldn't worry 😊

Confused118 · 01/03/2024 00:49

looks a bit close to the base, when I had mine done it was a touch further out, something about the balls not touching the skin,

Other than that they look fine

Cluckycluck · 03/03/2024 09:55

They look fine, it will just be the swelling

yeahiknoww · 03/03/2024 16:47

I can't see a difference other than it's not central in the pic with the arrow...looks like you just need to slide it over a bit?

They look good 👍🏻

StarlightLady · 13/03/2024 17:39

OP, ‘looks lovely to me. I’ve been thinking of having mine done for a long time; nervous because my body has rejected a naval piercing twice.

Please report back on the healing as time goes on. I’m concerned that any “bounce” (l’m a 36F) will make it take longer/be more difficult.

Lanawashington · 14/03/2024 12:28

@StarlightLady I'm a 36HH and had one of mine done ages ago. Took about 6 months to heal completely but was fine and not that painful for most of it

StarlightLady · 07/05/2024 07:28

OP, l have responded up thread. As someone seriously (and nervously) considering getting my nipple(s) done (I’ve recently had a nose piercing), could you give us an update on the healing please?

Rocknrollstar · 07/05/2024 08:01

Why would anyone have this done?

That’s not the subject of this thread. The answer is personal choice that doesn’t interfere with anyone else. Why do people have their ears pierced, have tattoos, have a wax, have their nails done? I could go on.

NCfor24 · 07/05/2024 10:41

@StarlightLady I'm not the OP but I have one done and am a 36F.
It healed pretty quickly. I used Neilmed spray to clean after a shower...warm water gently breaks down and washes away any minor scabs then the saline keeps it clean afterwards.
After 6 months I was able to change the jewellery so have 'special occasion' jewellery but prefer the barbell for day to day comfort.
I think I slept in a soft bralette for the first few nights but other than that my normal bras have been fine. Just caution needed with lace catching!
I do find if I lay on my front I sometimes have to reposition my boob for comfort...tbh that's not entirely piercing related anyway! When bra-less I have to remember to not squeeze through doorways etc, it does smart a bit when caught! I think I took a week off from my exercise class when it was first done but other than that no impact on day to day life and it's trouble free. My DH was allowed to touch after a few weeks.
Mine is now over 2 years old. I get the odd niggle if I catch it but a quick squirt of Neilmed and a day of tlc and it's fine.

The one I said had been pierced a bit wrong had to be taken out, it wasn't healing properly and got infected.
The other one is taking a long time to heal but is still in.
Everyone's bodies respond differently but mine isn't responding great to nipple piercings. Every other piercing iv had has been absolutely fine.

I'd say do it, loved them and really sad iv had to take one out but will be getting it repierced at some point and hope it heals better.

For those with helpful responses, many, many thank yous, for those that don’t get it, piercing is not compulsory. I’ve had my nose pierced on Friday and want to venture further.

OP, I’m so sorry that you’ve experienced a few hiccups along the way; perhaps you would like to keep us posted?

NCfor24 · 07/05/2024 19:49

@Sunflower960 I'm sorry it hasn't been a straightforward healing process. I did read somewhere that it can be hard for the body to heal more than one piercing at once. You may find once the remaining one is fully healed you can redo the other one.

On same point @StarlightLady maybe wait until your nose is fully healed but then go for it!

Yes, 11 weeks post piercing and still not healed.
I did snag it on something though and it bled a little a few weeks ago.

Most annoying piercing iv had for healing if I'm honest but trying to persevere!

Good luck OP, for me the jury is still out on whether to get them done.

If it helps, my sister had them both pierced and they have healed fine.
Everyone responds differently but I think they are worth it if you have an experience like my sister has :)

How much does it hurt?

I have lots of piercings, tragus, conch, helixes and others so not shy of the needle but the thought of a needle going through my nipple makes me feel a bit 😱.

But I really want it done! Can you compare it to any other piercings for reference?

Probably not the one to answer this question as since I had implants , I have less feelings in my nipples although it did still hurt!

Update for those wanting to know the healing process.
Took the second piercing out yesterday, almost 6 months after it was pierced. Just not healing, consistently showing small signs of infection despite trying different things ie. Saline cleaning / leaving it alone..
I wil say though that I didn't notice until I took it out that the skin where the balls sit is irritated, maybe a reaction to the metal? Hence, not healing. Strange though as all my other piercings have been fine!
If consider titanium / gold bars for anything thinking of going ahead.

OP, thank you for the update. Any iritation is obviously not what you want but does look minimal. So where do you go from here? Please keep us updated.

Have you kept the other one in?

My nose stud has been fine. I’ve had it downsized and no probs at all.The jury is still out on having my nipples done? I’ve noted your titanium/gold advice. I’ll probably wait until the autumn and then just have one done initially. If that works out OK, l’ll go for the second.
