Hamster is gay, how to explain to children?

Our hamsters are both men, and our kids are asking why they cuddle so much, how do explain this to children 😂😂

I had no idea about hamsters killing each other. I had two hamsters in a cage as a child, we named them as if they were both male and called them both "he" but I think now the only possibility is that they were both female. They did not harm each other and no babies ensued.
