He's been sleepy all day even when he went in the garden , he's now feeling cold and is sleepy and barely breathing and has just ignored the dandelion leaf next to him, they are his favourite, he's oldish and has been slowing down for awhile.

Oh I'm sorry he's gone but glad it was peaceful. It's all we can ask for for our furry companions isn't it, a long life and a peaceful death.

Aww Sad he's gone .

It is nicer (for him) that he slipped off quietly with his cagemates .

And KateF your piggie Rolo.

They often shuffle off without ceremony , you look and think "Are they ....oh"

The casual way they leave their body (like Hazel in Watership Down when the Black Rabbit comes )

It is strange when you make up a supper plate for one less or for Kate you suddenly don't hear the squeaks .

Twin guinea pigs have been quiet all evening, now they are squabbling - upstairs was always TGP1's domain and downstairs was TGP2 and elderly pig's domain. TGP1 doesn't like TGP2 coming upstairs but TGP2 has gone up there.

TGP2 might be looking for your old pig ( it can take them a while to catch on. They aren't the sharpest tools in the shed , bless 'em)

Give them treats tonight and tomorrow give the cage a complete clean.

That was always sad , having a piggie die then eradicating every trace of them. Even when I was deep cleaning for a new piggie I did feel I was wiping the old one out of existence .

If you have C&C you can re-jig the shape (to bamboozle them Wink )

Sorry about your lovely boy OPThanks

Yes, we've got a C and C. It's going to be cleaned out tomorrow- it should have been done today but we left it so we didn't disturb elderly pig. We can't really rearrange it as we use some of the grids for a stand and then have made two storeys with the rest, it just fits in the space we have; DS designed the layout to fit. We'll probably move the houses and tunnels around.
Thank you woodhill
I'm surprised he lived for 4 years, he was ill just before we got him and needed a lot of vet treatment.

twin piggies are now fine, they've sorted themselves out and sometimes sit downstairs together and other times go off on their own. They are so funny because they square up to each other for a fight but then one of them spots a tasty looking bit of hay and stops for a snack - like that dozy fish in Finding Nemo.
