Gave my three pigs a lovely bath today and put them out in the lawn run in the sunshine - the water was soooo dirty! Stinky pigs Grin

I love GP’s. I’d love to have a wee mate right now, but it’s not practical😢. Thank you for sharing yours!!

FauxFox · 06/04/2020 14:53

They would probably happily move in with you - they are outraged at having to be washed Hmm colin the golden one is a bit of a psycho at the best of times and he basically windmilled all his legs frantically throughout 🤣 to be fair he was the cleanest of the three to start with so may have felt he didn’t need my help with staying clean!

I think it might be guinea pig bath day here too...I'm bored and the sun is shining.
Your pigs are so cute.

FauxFox · 06/04/2020 15:07

It’s a lovely day for it @twinguineapig - am procrastinating now because the next job is to scrub out the hutches and bath time was much more fun than that bit Smile

Our three are indoor pigs, we cleaned them out yesterday. I'm not sure I can do bath day now as I have already given them a carrot each today and so there will be nothing to satisfy them when the judgy piggy faces come out after I've nearly drowned them! Bath time is not popular round here.

twinguineapig · 06/04/2020 15:19

Here's one of ours.

Well done Trevor, that's far better than being an official observer for fortnite tournaments Shock

I'll find a photo of the others later.

Too cute! These are our new piggies having garden time, and in the carrier on the way home from the vets Saturday as they apparently came to us with ringworm. 😩 Poor itchy piggies.

Loads more work for me and the kids can't even hold them for a month!

Still adorable though!

Nancy and Honey-Bum. Wish I had pics..
Our ndn was a JW and gave her a good send off!

twinguineapig · 06/04/2020 19:18

They are so cute :-)
We've had two of ours since they were ten days old, they were so tiny!

Novia · 06/04/2020 21:12

Caramel and Spotty-pig are about 6-7 weeks old now, so still pretty small. They are the sweetest things. We managed to get them the day before we went into lockdown in Madrid which was really brilliant for them and us. They have bags of personality.

If anyone has any advice on how long it takes for ringworm treatment to work it would be appreciated though. 😩

twinguineapig · 06/04/2020 21:35

I've got no idea about ringworm but I found this on petmd

Treatment

Treatment is a five- to six-week course of an oral antifungal medicine. If there are only one or two bald patches, or limited nonspreading spots of skin that appear red and flaky, they can usually be treated by applying an antifungal topical ointment that has been recommended by your veterinarian. The course of treatment generally lasts 7-10 days. Your veterinarian might also suggest the use of vitamin and mineral supplements to improve your guinea pig's health

When ours were ten days old they both fitted in the palm of my hand.

MrsCastiel · 06/04/2020 21:49

My girls (sisters, 2 years old) will be banning me from Mumsnet. I've not bathed them for a while so that can get done this week when it's hutch cleaning time.

Here they are a couple of weeks ago enjoying some outside time.

@mrscastiel - so sweet! They don't look too grubby! 😂

@twinguineapig - thank you. We've got an oral medicine from the vet, but DH took them and didn't ask any questions! Also in Spanish which doesn't help. They need to take the medicine for 5 weeks (one week on, one week off) but I can't find information anywhere on how long it takes to work, and when they stop being infectious! 😩 They also have to take extra vitamin c to help boost their immune systems.

weegiemum · 06/04/2020 23:08

My 2 girls went out on the grass today.

AmelieTaylor · 06/04/2020 23:15

Thank you all for sharing I’m in squeak heaven! Guinea pigs are The Best! 😍

AmelieTaylor · 06/04/2020 23:19

@FauxFox. I’d love them to move in. I won’t tell them they’d get regular baths here!!

I used to make myself do their hutch first - it seemed slightly less onerous if I had the nice bit to look forward to. The indoor ones were much easier to clean out daily.

Miss the little popcorning monsters!

SoftSheen · 06/04/2020 23:19

We also bathed one of our two guinea-pig girls today. She has semi-long hair (not sure of correct term!) and needs a bath at least once a month. Luckily she is very laid back and seems to enjoy it.

twinguineapig · 07/04/2020 03:44

These are our other two, they were less than two weeks old in this picture, they are now much bigger.

Lovely pigs 🥰

Are you supposed to bath them?! Help! Ours seem clean. We have one long haired one that needs a lot of grooming and trimming but otherwise they seem fine.

MazDazzle · 07/04/2020 13:53

Just what I was wondering RHT. We’ve never given ours a bath!
