I'm desperate for another guinea pig. Effectively Naughty Girl has been on her own since Monday when Fatimus sadly went to the vets and we all know how that endedSad

I don't want a baby, because I don't want to get into the cycle of losing one and a cagemate being left behind with a long lonely life ahead of it. I looked up some rescues but then I saw the RSPCA had an adorable neutered boar and I couldn't resist sending them my details. The RSPCA have rung me and we had a chat. I know more about him. Usual story family got a guinea before finding out anything about how to keep and care for him and couldn't cope. RSPCA neutered him pretty much as soon as they got him.

RSPCA will contact me again to arrange a home visit to make sure I am a suitable guinea pig owner. My DH was like you are joking aren't you Shock Confused Yes really DH no joke, they really do check homes for guinea pigs Smile

I must tell the neighbours to expect to see an RSPCA van in the road. When my friend house sat to look after the piggies whilst we were on holiday last month, the lady oppostive was on the verge of calling the police. She thought we had squatters Shock Confused Grin

Big Big Welcome to Coco and Sienna/Matilda

Lovely to see some new piggies in SFA and once Naughty gets used to her new friends and they settle down they'll be great company.

Must be weird having 3 girls after having OB and his brother Grin

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 23/09/2013 21:24

OB and his brother then OB/Fatimus and Naughty that should be Blush

fortifiedwithtea · 24/09/2013 07:01

These new girls do not believe in wasting food Grin and they eat red and yellow peppers. Something I could never get Fatimus and Naughty to eat because OB thought they were "new fangled and not to be trusted". Naughty watched and thought maybe I should try some. And guess what she likes peppers too!

I took some good photos yesterday evening and will upload later. I woke up too early 5.20am so may need a kip first.

BTW Whitebum is too fond of the summer house lardy. She has the personality of a Sienna but the look of a Matilda Grin

Good on Naughty trying new and exotic foods Grin. Could she talk to Scruffy as he doesn't hold with all that brightly coloured muck and prefers his food green. He did try a bit of tomato last week and seemed to like it and he ate a bit of Current Bun's carrot on their last play date.

fortifiedwithtea · 24/09/2013 22:12

Fernie would you say Scruffy is a 'Boars' boar', is he a bath dodger, a nail clipper avoider. Not what you would call a metro-sexual pig Grin

Harmony seems to rein in the Fortified house. Naughty has realised that her new friends are living in her hutch for good, so share nicely. New girls both drink water from a bottle thank goodness. I have seen Naughty watching and hope she will copy soon. Fed up with water bowl with assorted poo, hay, burgess pellet floating in it.

I think Coco may have been a passive smoker Shock. My only smoking friend came today needing to cuddle piggies one of those days Coco gave my friend's face a thorough lick. It could be love but the cynic in me says she was getting a nicotine fix Hmm

Photos now on my profile. Is Whitebum a Matilda, Tilly for short? Or does she suit something else. Honestly we named the DC quicker than this Confused

They are lovely fortified.
She's a Matilda (Matty / Tilly/ Tilda??)

Is she what they would call Calico in the USA?

Probably licked your friends face after a good pooh eating session

GP1 gives DD a Pooh Kiss Envy

fortifiedwithtea · 25/09/2013 03:06

Grin@ Pooh Kiss

Oh arent they gorgeous!!!
Very envious indeed. Matilda has a look of Fatimus about her and Naughtys adoring face
says it all! Tilly is a nice version of it but i can see where the sienna comes from. They both look as if they have settled in amazingly quickly, it really does depend on whether they are docile or feisty...

Lovely that they can be outdoors together. Long may peace reign :-)

guineapiglet · 25/09/2013 08:43

Ps one of our rescues was a passive smoker. When she arrived she reeeeeeeeked of smoke and her cage was full of fag ends and other substances.

She was massively agressive to begin with and i'm sure was going cold turkey for the first month...

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 25/09/2013 10:57

cage full of fag ends and other substances
Angry and Sad

Poor little pig. I bet the water was brown when you bathed her.

fortifiedwithtea · 25/09/2013 13:50

Guineapiglet Shock poor FagAsh Lil guinea pig Sad

Today I am trying out the name Sindy owing to Matilda/Tilly/Whitebum's cinnamon colouring on her back.

Decisions, decisions Confused

BTW news from the hutch. I have taken away the water bowl. Naughty has been watching very carefully and can now tentatively drink from a bottle not like the loud go for it noise the other two make [happy]. Coco had more than her share of breakfast baby plum tomatoes, which makes up for Naughty stealing her gem lettuce leaf Hmm

Good on Naughty - you are never too old to learn new tricks. Glad to hear they are all settling in well together.

Scruffy is definitely a boars boar - he barely grooms himself Grin. Smooth is much more metro-sexual.

guineapiglet · 26/09/2013 10:39

LOL Grin at Naughty learning how to impress her new friends - I ve looked at your photos and she really is a very pretty girl isnt she, such a sweet face... I am so pleased they are all so happy together, it is such a lovely rescue story.

Re Fagash, 70, yes AngrySad and Shock all together, there isnt much that turns my stomach but I had to take the entire contents of her cage and dump them in a far away field, it was toxic. How the little mite had survived is beyond me. She was the one who was like a sergeant major. She arrived on Christmas Eve, and was duly named Carol, she was a very feisty lass. How is the naming coming along Fortified? Names in a hat, or maybe start a thread in Baby's names Grin and see what is suggested!

fortifiedwithtea · 26/09/2013 10:41

Sindy didn't feel right either Confused Today we are trying Melissa --even though that was DD2 suggestion Hmm

Lol x post thread in Baby's names Grin it might come to that Guineapiglet

OP posts:
FernieB · 26/09/2013 12:41

Why not put a lot of names in a hat and let Melissa/Sindy/Matilda/Sienna/Whitebum pick one out herself!
