£500 a month on cocaine?

Can someone tell me if this is a lot in terms of recreational cocaine usage?

I've just discovered H is spending this much on cocaine a month. He says he's fine and it's part and parcel of working in banking in London and it's just recreational but I feel like it sounds like a lot?! More than recreational/occasional usage and moving in to addiction territory...?!

He is tee-total, faithful, likes to exercise.. so this is his only 'vice' but I don't want it getting out of control.

I'm a complete novice and know nothing about cocaine so if someone could provide some insight I'd be grateful!

Have name changed for this, obviously.

OP, he may be, and probably is, lying about that 500 quid. If you are lucky, he will realize he is playing with fire and quit. If not, and this is the more likely scenario, because he has had substance issues before, his use will escalate and you will have a massive problem in your hands. Cocaine is a wicked drug, not to be trifled with. It will wreck your husband's health, your relationship, your peace of mind, and your DC's future given half the chance.

If it were me, I would be telling him to stop and get support in stopping, NA ideally.

DM me if you want to hear more about my own story. I don't want to frighten you but you should be worried.

Well 12 years ago I was an addict and £500 then would have got about 8-9 grams of decent stuff dependant on the dealer. I could do between 1-2 grams a night and I was a tiny 9stone woman. I imagine prices have probably gone up so in literal terms spread over a month its not a huge amount he is doing at all, but its a slippery slope and very addictive so I'd get him help before it turns into something more

It don't matter on the amount you take
1 bag or 10 bags
If you have the addiction gene you will become addicted
It's the person 75%
The substance or whatever vice 25%
You or he may be lucky and not have the extra gene but if he has then he's already addicted and doesn't know it yet
