The perfect wedge hunt

I need a pair of wedges, but am very particular and am struggling to find a pair I really like.

My fussy rules are....

No ankle straps or anything coming too far up my foot gladiator stylee.
Not keen on the rope heels.
Not too delicate.
Must have at least a small platform or I feel like my Mum.
Preferably not fabric uppers, or patent.
Not black, and rather not brown or variation upon brown, probably not white either as I am very pale.
Probably not closed toe unless they still look summery.
Not too low, there's no point.
Minimal bling, studs are not me.
Cheap (under £40?), unless I LOVE them!

I realise I am rather on the rigid side with criteria here, it's just something simple I'm looking for, but not mumsy, probably in blue

these? a tenner over your limit but probably very well made

MrsC2010 · 05/07/2010 12:03

Oooh I like them!

niminypiminy · 05/07/2010 12:03

or even these even more platform?

Poppity · 05/07/2010 12:07

sorry no, the first too far up my foot, the second I don't like but can't explain why.....thanks for the effort though, I'm a nightmare customer!

love those blue ones!

tethersend · 05/07/2010 12:37

Too low?

Green

These?

tethersend · 05/07/2010 13:08

More green

tethersend · 05/07/2010 13:17

bling?

PlumSykes · 05/07/2010 13:20

turquoise

Poppity · 05/07/2010 13:27

I like the Next pair Tethersend, that shape is great but without the bow.

The last pair are nice too- but not my size 41/42 in the blue.

pointydog · 05/07/2010 13:29

these are very soft leather, comfy and sexy

Poppity · 05/07/2010 13:30

I think it's definitely because my Mum lived in shoes like the green ones when I was a rebellious teen, the loathing for them has never quite left me....

I love Fly London, but can't find any wedges by them without ankle gubbins (and they are pricier than I want to pay for shoes I have been scarred by)

Like those pointydog!- I want to see them from the front though, why do they only have a side pic

OP posts:
LaDietrich · 05/07/2010 13:32

these

pointydog · 05/07/2010 13:34

front

pointydog · 05/07/2010 13:36

a fly one

LaDietrich · 05/07/2010 13:36

hmm, not sure about these

Poppity · 05/07/2010 13:36

Oh no! they're the same ones, I don't like them on- too far up the foot.

Sigh.

It's virtually a phobia.

PlumSykes · 05/07/2010 13:37

Radleys in a 41 here

tethersend · 05/07/2010 13:37

If you'll do tan, how about these?

pointydog · 05/07/2010 13:39

another fly

LaDietrich · 05/07/2010 13:40

low on foot

i have a great pair from clarks a few years ago now that would be perfect for you and yor phobias unfortunately they aren't doing anymore...

Poppity · 05/07/2010 13:40

x posts

I don't like any of them.

I can add 'not mules' to the loooong list of rules.

The 'bling?' ones Tether linked to are a shape I like, but no bow.

OP posts:
Jcee · 05/07/2010 13:42

are these too ankle strappy?

Poppity · 05/07/2010 13:50

x posts again!

Ladietrich I don't like ankle straps

Tethersend, I need them to go with a blue dress which has some other colours in it and I don't think I can work brown in there at all

Pointy- I really like those Fly Endas, I love the drive too, I tried them both on in Treds the other day (cheaper on Amazon though!). The strap at the back came off really badly when I walked in them- I thought it would be ok with extra holes but reading those reviews I'm not so sure. I might risk it anyway as I do really like them.

Thanks Plum, I do quite like those Radleys, I'll keep them in my bookmarks.
