The perfect wedge hunt

I need a pair of wedges, but am very particular and am struggling to find a pair I really like.

My fussy rules are....

No ankle straps or anything coming too far up my foot gladiator stylee.
Not keen on the rope heels.
Not too delicate.
Must have at least a small platform or I feel like my Mum.
Preferably not fabric uppers, or patent.
Not black, and rather not brown or variation upon brown, probably not white either as I am very pale.
Probably not closed toe unless they still look summery.
Not too low, there's no point.
Minimal bling, studs are not me.
Cheap (under £40?), unless I LOVE them!

I realise I am rather on the rigid side with criteria here, it's just something simple I'm looking for, but not mumsy, probably in blue

Jcee, they are- I like them though. I have cankles, ankle straps just seem to enhance this

I have those damn drive sandals. I never wear them because I can't walk in them due to the strap at the back coming off.

thehairybabysmum · 05/07/2010 14:00

I have just bought these here....fab, super comfy too, not frumpy on.

I also have these here from last year and they are possibley my favourite ever pair of shoes, comfy anf funky....i always get compliments on them. They have them in loads of colours too, mine are red.

tethersend · 05/07/2010 14:00

These are lovely if you can bear an ankle strap...

Poppity · 05/07/2010 14:01

Hmm, yes, I thought that might be the case. Seems to happen quite a bit with Flys, I have a pair of sandals which do the same. It's like the strap is set too low or something.

On with the search it is then.

but you need an ankle strap or you will fall off them surely??

those drive ones are fab, i have the closed toe/heel shoe equivalent and they are v. nice.

Poppity · 05/07/2010 14:05

Thanks, but I really don't want an ankle strap- I love all those you've linked to with them though! There are a lot around that I like with ankle straps, I really like the clog sort too.

Perhaps I need to go and do some more trying on or ankle strap shoes and see whether I can pull it off.

Got to go on school run now, back tonight, thanks all.

Something like this but not black?

wubblybubbly · 05/07/2010 14:32

rocket dog £39but brown?

Love these but patent, come in loads of colours though, £59.99

LadyIsabella · 05/07/2010 22:06

I bought these in purple and they are a bargain at £39.99. They are really comfy too and I speak as someone who rarely wears heeled shoes.

Poppity · 05/07/2010 22:15

I can't open that link tether.

Those Rocket Dog ones are lovely! I wonder if they do other colours anywhere? Will have a search I think, I really like them.

The Fly ones are just a bit wintery I think.

these? I've forgotten all the rules, but ankle straps are a big NO unless you have tiny ankles. I alas do not

AngryPixie · 05/07/2010 22:20

cute?

AngryPixie · 05/07/2010 22:22

we may have had these

AngryPixie · 05/07/2010 22:24

jury's out

AngryPixie · 05/07/2010 22:25

could take off the blingy CK

tethersend · 05/07/2010 22:27

Shit, sorry- these

AngryPixie · 05/07/2010 22:29

I want these!

Poppity · 05/07/2010 22:32

Hi Pixie, the rules are demanding it's true.

I can't do rope, so those first ones are a no, although not a bad shape maybe except the bow on the back

the check ones just won't work with the dress anyway

we have had the Fly ones, lovely but I have tried them on and the strap falls off when you walk sadly

last ones too low

I give full permission for everyone to give up on me. I won't give out detentions or anything. At least I know I'm uberfussy and not just crap at searching
