I think they look gorgeous on Kate Moss, Sienna et al but awful on majority of population. There is no way I could get away with wearing them. And yes I think they do have to be long.

frannyf · 01/09/2005 08:28

I thought as much

I guess I could tuck them into boots, though? (shudder) Not sure if I can go there, actually...

katierocket · 01/09/2005 08:40

franny if you've got the legs, go for it. I would but don't want to frighten small children on the street.

frannyf · 01/09/2005 12:16

Hold on, if people are tucking them into boots, who's to say what sort of jeans they are underneath anyway??? They could be 2 foot flares under their boots!

expatkat · 01/09/2005 12:33

totally right, franny, I thought of that later. But actually flared jeans bag up over the boots in a way that skinny jeans don't. . .so skinny jeans (short OR long) are the best way to go if worn under boots IMHO.

I have just tried a pair of skinny cords on in Gap and they were v nice but not long enough for me.

Sigh.

SueW · 01/09/2005 12:47

And then there's the return of the puffball skirt, in a more blouson style. YUCK!

I am 5' 9" and around a size 10/12 and I usually buy 32 to 33 inch at least. But I never wear heels, only flats so they don't need the extra bit to go over heels iyswim. You would be ok I think. I have hips and bum, am not beanpole. D

They look a bit weird when you first look in the mirror as you are used to seeing wafts of bootcut fabric about (thighs!!!) But I quite liked them. I had Converse on and looked like something out of the Ramones, ha.

Will get dh to cast his expert eye at w/end I think.

Tuck them into boots.

I have seen some shockers in the shops today, boot shoes or something they are called, really foul. Shoes that go over your ankle. Will try and link.

snafu · 01/09/2005 13:02

I would look like Weeble Ramone.

Thighs do look big I must admit, they usually are balanced out by bootcut.

Think I may stick to my Asda specials.
