What do you think of these chunky sandals, style mavens?

here

I have big, wide feet and I'm very tall and I really can't do delicate sandals or heels - they are never wide enough and I fall over on any kind of heel but I did want something with just a low wedge, but that I can walk in. But I'm looking for a bit funky and edgy rather than granny sandals. I would prob get in the dark brown, and wear with bright painted toenails.

So have I found it or are these awful? I love them but maybe I've gone mad after ages searching...

I like them. Quite ££££ though.

MarineIguana · 14/06/2010 22:29

(Ignoring for now the rubbish 1-star review - maybe she's got strange feet)

Sorry, they're horrible.

What about some gladiator sandals? They don't have to be delicate, lots are quite chunky.

MarineIguana · 14/06/2010 22:31

Hmm mixed response, keep 'em coming.

They're not that cheap but with feet like mine, I will fork out when I find the right thing (and bearing in mind that as I can't wear nice girly shoes, I hardly ever buy shoes)

These?

Birkie esque?

Lots of adjustable buckles so good for wide feet

MarineIguana · 14/06/2010 22:32

Cankles I fear, ewe. They're not really bad but I could do without cutting off my leg at the ankle.

autodidact · 14/06/2010 22:36

these are nice

pointydog · 14/06/2010 22:37

I like those sandals but then I like fly and many people seem to dislike them. Give them a try and ignore the duff review.

I dislike all gladiators aND THINK they are to be avoided at all costs.

ThatVikRinA22 · 14/06/2010 22:37

hate them. clumpy frumpy jesus sandals for women. yuk!

Ewe · 14/06/2010 22:39

Ah yes, cankles and glads not a great combo unless you mainly wear trousers or maxi dresses.

autodidact · 14/06/2010 22:40

Agree re gladiators to be avoided. Maybe fly likers tend to be gladiator haters and vice versa?

MarineIguana · 14/06/2010 22:41

That's about the size of it vicar! I don't have much choice though.

Thanks for yours autodidact - stylish but I can see them flying off. I need a back bit. (Can't do toeposts either, they're always agony)

They're grim MI...sorry...
I've got big, wide feet as well and have just bought these
and they are the most comfortable sandal I've ever worn!
I know they are totally flat but seriously they fit and they're wide and they look gorgeous on.

pointydog · 14/06/2010 22:44

Get them. All teh fly-likers will be thinking, hey coolio. Because fly-likers would prob say coolio and such-like

pointydog · 14/06/2010 22:45

hmm. You see, I much prefer op's to those office ones.

In't fashion a funny thing.

ticktockclock · 14/06/2010 22:46

Ewwwww, not liking...look like what the nuns that I used to work for wore.

Ingles2 · 14/06/2010 22:47

do you pointy? wow....
those fly ones are so middle aged

MarineIguana · 14/06/2010 22:48

I'm liking your style pointy. Maybe I'll identify you in RL as I walk down the street, when you're the only person who swoons at my shoes (as everyone else recoils in horror )

OP posts:
MarineIguana · 14/06/2010 22:49

Well I am middle-aged though I suppose

But see to me these are middle-aged.

I love Fly,have these in khaki, would worry about the review though..

Ingles2 · 14/06/2010 22:58

Sorry MI that sounds worse than I meant it to. besides I'm middle aged as well.
I think it's the half hearted wedge that puts me off
