What do you think of these chunky sandals, style mavens?

here

I have big, wide feet and I'm very tall and I really can't do delicate sandals or heels - they are never wide enough and I fall over on any kind of heel but I did want something with just a low wedge, but that I can walk in. But I'm looking for a bit funky and edgy rather than granny sandals. I would prob get in the dark brown, and wear with bright painted toenails.

So have I found it or are these awful? I love them but maybe I've gone mad after ages searching...

these Fly ones are yummy in yellow

MarineIguana · 14/06/2010 22:59

I like yours poppity! - but I would immediately go over on my ankle in them.

I know the review is weird, but I can't help think she must have had the wrong size? If anything they would be tight on me as the biggest is an 8. Plus I'm a bit crafty so if that was the only problem I would see if I could alter them.

Don't worry Ingles I can take it!

prob should have said coolio rather than yummy, the later putting me in the Kidston rather than Fly bracket I should think

Ingles2 · 14/06/2010 23:01

phew
what size are you? an 8 ?

Poppity · 14/06/2010 23:01

They don't look as if the fit would be weird

MarineIguana · 14/06/2010 23:02

I think big platform wedges look great but I would then be 6'3" or something - and I would fall over, and you don't want to fall from that height!

I'm an 8 in some makes, sometimes a 9 but I can fit a fly 8 in their boots.

You get free returns with Amazon now too I think. Fly sizes can be weird ime, I have those sandals in a 7, and Fly boots in a 9. I am an 8

Ingles2 · 14/06/2010 23:08

I'm an 8 and the blowfish shoes are the biggest 8 I've tried.
I've had a few pairs of sandals now and some piratey boots so it might be worth looking at in future.

Yes I'm getting some good brands to try from this thread.

My tip for big wide feet is Destroy (and Oxygen - same company).

MI - If you have big, wide feet then Flys are unlikely to fit. Belive me, I have had to reject 3 pairs recently. , Sad because I love their shoes, although, sorry, not those you have linked to.

MarineIguana · 14/06/2010 23:22

But I fit in their boots bike... were these sandals that didn't fit you?

My feet are wide at the toe end but but not unduly so elsewhere.

OK I have ordered both my clumpster wedges and Ingles' blowfish flats (thanks Ingles!) - so will see what works.

ooo...how exciting. full report please on style and sizing when you get them.

BikeRunSki · 15/06/2010 15:01

MI - FLy boots fit my feet but not my legs. The sandals I have sent back are Yuna

Yedi

and Oreta

I my recent shoe searching madness have dioscoverd that Nine West do a lot of 9s, which fit my super wide size 8s.

Thanks for tip on Destroy. Didn;t realsie that they were the same as Oxygen.

Ingles2 · 15/06/2010 21:12

so today I wore my new blowfish sandals for the first time... did a home pedi last night and painted nails a dark colour. When I picked ds1 up from school, 1st thing he said was "pretty feet mum"
am so thrilled..have hated my feet my entire life
I am now officially in love with these sandals

MarineIguana · 15/06/2010 21:51

Ingles - awww!

(It's like the speccy secretary shaking down her hair and the bloke going "why miss jones... you're beautiful!" - except with feet )

Bikerunski thanks for the links, I'm reassured because they look like more "pointy"/narrow styles - whereas my orthepaedic-stylee ones look a lot more "phat". Hope I'm not just deluding myself.
