I can't believe it. The ONE place I can find good-quality clothes for my two little girls that don't have loads of slogans, aren't all pink and have a nice, old-fashioned feel is CLOSING DOWN!!

Fellow mini-moders - where will you shop now? I need ideas fast!

debenhams?? didn't realise mini mode was closing down.

BertieBotts · 13/06/2010 14:19

Whaaaat? Noo, it can't shut down!

H&M tends to be my other staple for DS' clothes. They seem to have less pink overload than other shops, though I haven't looked too closely at the girls' stuff. Gap sale rail sometimes has some good stuff.

Other than that, mini mode stuff second hand from ebay? They usually last well enough.

bran · 13/06/2010 14:30

I didn't know that they were closing down, but I'm not all that surprised. They are linked (not sure how exactly) to Adams, so when Adams shut I though that they would be in a difficult position. I'm surprised they've kept going as long as they have.

bran · 13/06/2010 14:32

John Lewis are good. I need to size up for DD and they are a little too heavily in favour of pink but the quality is great.

Meglet · 13/06/2010 14:32

Do you mean there are stand alone Mini Mode shops or that the entire brand is going and they won't even be in Boots anymore?

I love Mini Mode, DS has lots of their t-shirts and the girls stuff is rarely pink .

bran · 13/06/2010 14:34

It won't be in Boots after the end of August, and the last date for ordering online is 23rd June.

monkey9237 · 13/06/2010 14:35

Minimode is still available online isnt it? And in larger Boots stores? I got an email just last week with some sort of promotion on clothing...

Meglet · 13/06/2010 14:36
Sad
FourArms · 13/06/2010 14:36

I didn't realise that Mini Mode wasn't just Boots own brand!

thumbwitch · 13/06/2010 14:36

I didn't realise it was a separate entity from Boots

Perhaps it will still be available on line, like the Ladybird range from Woolworths is.

monkey9237 · 13/06/2010 14:37

Cross posted sorry

BertieBotts · 13/06/2010 14:39

No Mini Mode was a standalone company (although part of Adams as bran says) but they trade through Boots stores and also independently, online. On the website it says their clothing will be in Boots stores until the end of August.

Another suggestion - not sure what the girl's stuff is like, but George at Asda is okay for boys' clothes too. Very hit and miss - some weird stuff like a t shirt with a picture of some stairs and then eyes hiding in the cupboard under the stairs and an arrow pointing to the "naughty step" and "me hiding" BUT can also find some nice things too, like bright t shirts with animals on and trousers with cute belts.

thumbwitch · 13/06/2010 14:43

oo big x-post from me there too - sorry!.

That's a shame then - wonder why it's gone down? General recession ishoos?

PfftTheMagicDragon · 13/06/2010 14:46

I like mini mode. Also buy the children clothes from John Lewis, some Boden, sometimes Sainsburys, Next (hit and miss) very occasional Pumpkin Patch.

I find John Lewis to be the most reliable in terms of being able to find decently made stuff that it's all pink.

WellMeantHellBent · 13/06/2010 14:49

That is such a shame, I used to get DD stuff there so she looked a bit different to the other kids at nursery. Also loved the way they match wellies and rain coats!

DomesticGoddessInTraining · 13/06/2010 15:04

While the mini mode brand is going, my DSis, who works for Boots, tells me she thinks there'll be some rebranded clothing available in Boots going forward so hopefully all is not lost...

BertieBotts · 13/06/2010 15:25

That's good to know DG

BertieBotts · 13/06/2010 15:25

WMHB - yeah and socks!

BikeRunSki · 13/06/2010 15:29

Oh booo hiss, I love mini mode, although their trousers no good for cloth nappies.

DomesticGoddessInTraining · 13/06/2010 15:35

DS is in cloth nappies (flexitots) and his trousers are ok. Mind you, he's a real skinny minny so I tend not to have the same issues with trousers as most cloth nappy users!

nearly30 · 13/06/2010 21:11

They were just so good for slightly old-fashioned clothes that weren't all horrible and neon bright. Nice girls dresses with collars and lovely 'proper' winter coats etc. And all brilliant quality.

Guess I will buy more from John Lewis now. H&M are good, but I live in the countryside and can't get it online.

I think Boden is really overpriced (the quality at minimode was a lot better for half the price) and it's all a bit too 'modern' for me. Can you get Sainsbury's online?

OP posts:
BertieBotts · 14/06/2010 00:34

No, I don't think sainsbury's do clothing online. I have got some really nice stuff though on ebay by typing in "mini mode" or "boden" etc and then using the filters to get the right size.

GraceK · 19/06/2010 00:07

Just discovered this when doing some online browsing - am shocked by the lack of explanation on the site. Just says it won't be available after the end of Aug - nothing else. Odd no explanations elsewhwere online either.

newyorkwatson · 22/06/2010 15:29

I've just spoken to a lady at MiniMode and apparently their contract with Boots has ended and has now gone to Mothercare. Therefore a new line of clothing is being designed and will be introduced so hopefully keeping to the same look of children looking like children!!

Fingers crossed.

bleedingheart · 22/06/2010 15:41

I hope they do go to Mothercare. I love minimode clothes, so different from the norm. They have good sales too!
