Jumpsuits - yay or nay?

I really love this but I'm 35, curvy and have big boobs - will it look hideous??? I saw a woman last week at a party wearing a jumpsuit and thought she looked fab.

Go on, tell me, I can take it....

Your link doesn't work but I don't even need to see it to tell you......NAY, NAY and THRICE NAY!

You will look like a bizarre big-breasted toddler. Oh and a fashion victim.

littledawley · 26/05/2010 12:19

Anyone?

Crossed posted Bunny - PMSL @ big-breasted toddler!

WTF then do I wear out for cocktails on Saturday night with friend that is always very glam???

Have got this in blue which I haven't worn yet or I quite like this in black but am worried about my legs in both and what type of jacket to wear as the weather is rubbish again.

original jumpsuit

What´s wrong with your legs?
Anything that a good pair of tights/stockings couldn´t sort out?

Jumpsuit awful imo-even on model.

traceybath · 26/05/2010 13:43

I like the jumpsuit and think they can look very good - its just a top and trousers so not sure why they're hated so much.

I'd order it and try it on at home with heels and see what you think.

Its fun to try new stuff though

slim22 · 26/05/2010 13:45

imo jumpsuits work only on very petite curvy girly girls. not grown up women.
And only in Ibiza, not in town...

both dresses nice

AllBuggiedOut · 26/05/2010 13:49

I think that if the colour works on you and it's a good fit, the jumpsuit would be stunning. Agree with tracey that you should try it if you love it! And heels definitely the way to go.

motherlovebone · 26/05/2010 13:51

my good friend has a jump suit shorts combo, she is 30 and looks fantastic.

im with tracey
buy and try experimenting at home.

would be fine on a curvy girl with thick straps or shrug.

notyummy · 26/05/2010 13:56

Hello OP - have jumped over from the Wise and Avid thread to ponder on your clothes!

OK - jumpsuits. Like TRacey says - why not try?? Order it and try in your own home with some killer heels. I think they are probably as much about attitude and how comfortable you feel in them, as opposed to figure. 5 ft 11 beautiful 20 years olds look better than me in most things, but that doesn't mean I should banned from wearing them too!

I love both the dresses you linked to. Perhaps spray on leg stuff (Sally Hansen?) plus some killer heels (nude for maximum leg lengthening properties here) would help? Alternatively, you could try black or charcoal leggings underneath with some heeled glads for a fierce look.

littledawley · 26/05/2010 14:55

Thanks all! Might just order the jumpsuit and try - have got these or these in a slingback which could work. What type of jacket?

I used to be so confident about clothes but just don't know where I am right now....

winstonstimpson · 26/05/2010 15:40

I like this one

notyummy · 26/05/2010 15:59

Would say perhaps some sort of waterfall front cardie or biker style jacket.

Possibly a blazer could work too?

Allora · 26/05/2010 16:41

I have the same one in blue from reiss I'm 5ft 5 with reasonable norks and a small 12. with heels it looks FAB and i love it. oh and i'm not young either

bishboschone · 26/05/2010 16:58

I tried a jumpsuit on in Dorotht perkins yesterday. I am little and curvy and it was size 8 . It looked lovely and really slimming but I am 35 (although I am told I don't look it) and I left the shop and had a word with myself. I am torn wether I am deluded or not.

bishboschone · 26/05/2010 16:58

fwiw..I think that reiss one is lovely.

Coderooo · 26/05/2010 16:59

i like the marks one i saw online
oddly

Coderooo · 26/05/2010 16:59

wouldnt wear, but like

traceybath · 26/05/2010 17:18

I love that purple one too - they'd styled it with a grey snakeskin silk scarf as a belt in vogue and it looked fab.

isthatporridgeinyourzone · 26/05/2010 17:48

I think jumpsuits can look fab - but like any item of clothing you need to find the right one for you. I have a black strappy jumpsuit and I'm 38 - it's not too far away from what I would normally wear. Most people wouldn't faint or shout mutton at the sight of a 38 year old wearing a spaghetti strapped top and a pair of black trousers so I don't understand the problem with jumpsuits. As with everything there's good and bad.

littledawley · 26/05/2010 18:01

Allora - love the idea of a blue one but they obviously don't do it any more, not as unforgiving as beige but more summery than black. What do you wear over yours if it's chilly?

OP posts:
Spacehoppa · 26/05/2010 18:06

EEKUM, SQUEEKUM. Surely Anneka Rice only. Ever.

Allora · 26/05/2010 18:39

i have black elasticated criss cross strappy sandally heels from top shop - would link but can't...Nicer than they sound! or some bright blue high heeled shoes from reiss last year. i wear a long thin cardy over the top cos i don't like to be too dressy dressy.

i really don't feel muttony in it. i feel quite elegant and i live in fear of mutton and find the only clothes that look nice these days are from reiss, comptoir des cottonniers or whistles - none of which i can actually afford

didn't buy mine that long ago. have you got a nice enough skin tone to carry off that colour?

Romanarama · 26/05/2010 18:41

I love jumpsuits, can't see what's so shocking about them - they're just clothes, and can be quite staid really. That Reiss one is very nice, and more demure than it would be if the bottom half was a short skirt.

But... OP, that blue dress FC is lovely, so why buy s'th else for £149? I recommend you wear that with tights and heels. When you say 'curvy' what size are we talking?

MayorNaze · 26/05/2010 18:46

not read thread but nay nay and more nay than if i were a horse

littledawley · 26/05/2010 19:01

Allora is your's the jersey strapless one? I think that it's a different style but lovely - I love that colour and wear a lot of it. I get a lot from Whistles, have never tried comptoir des cottonniers, am off to check if they have a website!

Romanarama - I do like the FC one but it feels too late to wear opaque tights and I don't want to wear sheer. I might have to slap on some fake tan - I guess I just like the idea of trousers but a jumpsuit has the convenience of a dress.

Will look in a mo, see if I can get it before Friday then make a decision. I'm 5'4 (and a half!), size 14 - typical hourglass shape, fair skin, long dark hair.

Might have to come and join the other thread where it seems I can obsess about clothes to my hearts content!!
