FANTASTIC cheap foundation recommendation

I normally spend a lot on foundation (use Lancome or By Terry) and ususally disdain cheap foundation, as (imo) it's all crap.

However, I forgot to take my make up bag to work (I put my face on in the work car park) and as I cannot face the public without make up on, I borrowed a friend's foundation and blusher.

I was expecting to look like an orange mess, but it has lasted all day and I look blooming. Really good colour match (I am very pale and most foundations look orange and vile on me), has lasted without going all chalky and patchy (Estee Lauder Double Wear I am looking at you) and is very good indeed, better than my foundations which cost a bloody fortune.

I am off to Boots to buy it - it's Maybelline 24 hours.

Really recommend it.

ah YES that's what it is, it's a new product, a foundation mixed with that face lift stuff, hence why it was three pounds off when i got it. i reckon it normally sells for under a tenner. i have the pen too, it's pretty good but actually the wee lidded pot is better imho, if you have decent brushes.

I love my pink and green mascara.

melondrama · 15/05/2010 00:21

i tried l'oreal morphose rhe other day whilst waiting for prescription in boots..absolutely amazing.
i usually use chanel vitalumiere or teint innocence, and i'm not 100% happy with either but the l'oreal morphose was shockingly good

WannabeMakeUpArtist · 15/05/2010 08:32

I'm a firm fan of Vitalumiere or Pro Lumiere but when I'm feeling poor or disorganised (I live in the middle of no where - shops wise!) I've always got a back up bottle of L'oreal True Match foundation and its actually quite good...

Pink and green mascara is awful, I'm just trying Max Factors new last extension mascara and it is really good. I can seeing it drying out quite quickly but does actually do what it says on the tin (or should that be bottle!).

supersalstrawberry -if you are looking for decent brushes I would go for Mac or Bobbi Brown, you can usually buy a starter set and build up from there as the price of it may make you faint!

I agree Tesco make up is the business - they have a knocjk of of Benefit high beam (forget what it is called) which is excellent.

Also the cream blushes and liquid eyeliners are really good. It is a very good range all round. Will look out for that Chantecaiile type foundation Aitch.

I don't look like Stephen Hendry this morning, which is good.

Re cakey coverage - no it is not cakey at all I find, mind you I do take ages in putting on foundation anyway. The colour match is not as perfect as By Terry or Lancome, but it is very good for a cheap foundation, and for a long-lasting foundation it is not horribly drying, or have an odd consitency (I tried Estee Lauder doublewear, it had texture like PVA glue and caked like Barbara Cartland, was truly awful).

DP, his brother and son yesterday when I met them all said I was looking really well, so must be doing summat.
