I saw this:

and it kind of reminded me of this:

Jackie O's election dress

Coincidence? Or contrived?

The Life cover is such an iconic image, and Sam's worsted wool maternity dress was so similar to Jackie's, I wonder if subconsciously she/her advisors wanted to project an image of her and Dave as the 'victorious young couple'.

If they did, they were ill-advised. She's not Jackie O. He's no JFK.

Besides, why would you want to project that image, he was assisinated, her life was incredibly unhappy and their son and his wife died in a tragic accident?

In addition, two of their other sons were stillborn/died soon after birth.

Yeah Yeah, I know. Everything that came after was shit for them basically, but I love that picture. It's just full of optimism and hope isn't it? The eve of the sixties... the cool young couple...the euphoria.... (although actually I think Jackie kind of looks like the rabbit in the headlights). But for a moment it put to bed the old adage 'Politics is Hollywood for ugly people'. Perhaps that's the spirit Sam was trying to channel?

Her whole life was sad.

Her dad treated her mother like trash.

She'd already lost a baby when JFK, her alcoholic cheating excuse for a husband, was elected.

It was all pretty much shit for her and she died of cancer aged just 62 (no wonder she was such a heavy smoker).

I don't see how anyone would want to emulate her.

Or Princess Di, either. Talk about sadness in your life.

Jackie wasn't always sad and found a lot of happiness later in her life, her relationship with Maurice Templesman was very solid and happy by all accounts.

I'm glad she was gone before John John died, though. And her nephew, whom she was very close to and who died of cancer 3 weeks after John John passed away.

Does anyone else thing SamCam looks remarkably like a (quite attractive) sheep? It's something about her eyes.

The purple election night dress was horrible, like one of those 1940s tents they used to make pregnant women wear.

Mostly, though, I just felt incredibly sorry for her having to stand up all night with a bump.

I see the sheep thing completely. It's her oddly convex profile. Something about the mouth as well as eyes too.

But then Jackie K looks like a frog in that pic as her eyes appear so far apart! No wonder she wore sunnies a lot.

Sam cam is wholesome and she's attractive, from a wealthy family,,, she has been blessed in many ways, but she is ever going to make people buy a magazine just because her face is on the front. I think if you click on that boden dress she wore they still have it!

Jackie O's eyes were really far apart. I think it made her seem a bit alien like, in a good way.

I don't think Sam Cam is all that attractive. I mean she's slim, so carries clothes well but mostly when I look at her I just think 'wishy-washy' in that she has no spark about her at all.

FGS! There are some really nasty comments here. Leave the woman alone. She is pregnant and wearing a nice maternity dress/coat. She is with her husband on one of the most important days of their life. That is all.

For all we know she might be suffering from dreadful morning sickness and just about the last thing she wants to do is be seen in public every day.

Have some humanity and wish her well in her pregnancy. Even if you didnt vote Conservative.

Well, we were kind of invited to discuss her looks and image and what she might want to portray, so what exactly do you expect? Fawning all round even though she wore a horrible potato sack?
