The Victorious Young Camerons.... is SamCam the new Jackie O?

I saw this:

SamCam's election dress

and it kind of reminded me of this:

Jackie O's election dress

Coincidence? Or contrived?

Thanks for the sheep image, all v clear now

purplepeony · 08/05/2010 08:04

I can't see any coincidence except they are both wearing purple.

Think your imagination is running away with you.

HOWEVER- I was pleased to see that a fashion writer in yesterday's paper agreed with some comments here about Sarah B's skirts- she said they were often too full, too tight or too short.

posieparker · 08/05/2010 08:11

Her maternity dress/coat was vile, bad shape and she's no stunner, Nick Clegg's wife is far far more attractive.

SuSylvester · 08/05/2010 08:32

NO FUCKING WAY
i dont get why she is stylish
hair like an afghan hound and htat DRESSS

errgh

beanlet · 08/05/2010 11:04

Bit of an overreaction BeenBeta -- she's worn some really nice things on the campaign, and her media image is of someone who is a "nice person", but her election dress (which is what we were specifically asked to comment on) was foul, IMO (and almost everyone elses).

mangoandlime · 08/05/2010 11:38

I did not vot Cons. That said I think SamCam has had her share of heartache and I find some of these comments as bad, if not worse, than the ones aimed at SB's knees last week. However, SamCam is no Jackie O, that's for sure.

And eh? 'Victorious' !!

BeenBeta · 08/05/2010 11:45

It was the comments about her looks and her hair, etc that I think is wrong. I say the same about all the leaders wives.

No wonder women feel so body concious, its because other women tear them apart.

Fine not to like her dress, but comments that she looks like a sheep or an afghan hound are not on.

She has not set out to be anything other than David Cameron's wife. She has barely been seen in the campaign - in contrast to Sarah Brown who is often in camera shot whenever Gordon Brown is meeting 'the public'

jeananddolly · 08/05/2010 12:04

From yesterday's Evening Standard
"Listen Up international fashion police - the glamorous Brit is back. Move over Mrs. Sarkozy with your Goody Two Shoes in Dior act, Farewell Michelle Obama with your middle American perkiness...there's a new girl in town and she belongs to us."

Do we think the writer has ever actually seen a picture of Carly Bruni (Goody Two Shoes???) and Michelle Obama (middle American perkiness??? I think she must be confusing her with Doris Day.)

"She has natural style and grace. She loves fashion but is not a slave to it..."

YAWN. Jackie O wouldn't be seen dead in Converse

mangoandlime · 08/05/2010 13:05

Yeah, but Beenbeta, she's the wife of the PM, now't wrong with her supporting her husband. (awaits highly hilarious and original quips about not for much longer )

BeenBeta · 08/05/2010 14:53

I don't get on Style & Beauty much (more is the pity) but for the love of God can someone tell me what converse is/are/was?

Picture links are welcome and please forgive me, if I missed a major female fashion trend.

PollyTicks · 08/05/2010 14:54

She wishes.

TheCrackFox · 08/05/2010 14:55

converse trainers

BeenBeta · 08/05/2010 15:09

Do women really wear those?

I honestly have never see a women wear those. Maybe a teenage lad perhaps.

mangoandlime · 08/05/2010 15:31

I wear Converse. I think you'll find loads of women do!

beanlet · 08/05/2010 15:36

I've been wearing converse for 30 years.

AnnVeronica · 08/05/2010 15:45

I thought Sam looked great in Converse! Going off on a slight tangent, I saw some videos of her on Webcameron. She's far less posh than I thought she'd be! Has she had some kind of My Fair Lady reverse elocution?

BeenBeta · 08/05/2010 15:50

Just showed DW the picture - she says she has never seen a woman wear those either. She says teenagers only.

We lived in the trendy heart of London 10 years ago. We are not exactly without style conciousness.

mangoandlime · 08/05/2010 15:52

Oh, in that case you must be right then

If only I'd known sooner...

BeenBeta · 08/05/2010 15:52

AnnVeronica - that is because her family has Lincolnshire/Yorkshire roots. Good Northern Tory lass at heart even though she lives in London now!

noddyholder · 08/05/2010 15:56

She is too thin and hooray looking no spark.Nick cleggs wife looks like she would dance the flamenco and then fight a bull before cooking a paella and shagging him all night In other words HOT!

mangoandlime · 08/05/2010 16:01

Oh yes, compared to Miriam she does seem like a bit of a wet lettuce.

DavidHameron · 08/05/2010 16:20

Never EVER thought I'd find myself agreeing with ABetaDad (I'm a regular namechanger) but FGS.

I don't think leader's wives ARE up for bitchiness about their appearance. They do their best; they're not the politicians.

BeenBeta · 08/05/2010 16:23

Women! They are their own worst enemies!

BeenBeta · 08/05/2010 16:25

DavidHameron/VerityBrulee - agree with you of course. Voices of reason.
