It has been a while since I used some fake tan
Have just used the St Tropez gradual moisturiser tan.
It is really pleasant to use
Not smelly
Dries pretty quickly so have slapped on and got dressed after a few mins.
Will report back tomorrow on the colour

Second vote for this product

It is lovely and has never gone streaky on me. I used it last year and always had a great colour. Have just started using a fresh batch this week Already have a subtle, lovely glow

Also, although they make a separate facial tan, I use this one on my face and it's fine.

brimfull · 30/04/2010 20:47

how can you say it's good without seeing the result?

DarrellRivers · 30/04/2010 20:51

I have used the St Tropez strong stuff before and always been impressed.
What I hate however is the smell and the stickiness and the big faff that putting it on involved
This was so so so so easy.
I hope it is the same great colour (hope they didn't change the one thing that was good about it)
Anyway, how wrong can a gradual colour be?

DR - a gradual colour can be VERY wrong, ime! I tried the L'Oreal Sublime bronze gradual tanner.......I had to wear trousers through the warmest week this year so far because my legs were so streaky

DarrellRivers · 30/04/2010 21:00

oh horrors

(prays can go out tomorrow night)
Mind you is forecast rain for the weekend and party that need tan for is not for a week
[crosses fingers]

Yep, I lurve the stuff, it stops my legs being blue and is v easy to put on.

The only 'problem' I've had with it, is that it turned the back of my ankles orange the first time I used it, but that was me being lazy and not exfoliating first.

I find I get a better finish if I put the St Trop on then use a tiny bit of moisturiser over my feet (inc toes) afterwards. It doesn't take the colour off, but helps blend it in really well.

I'm on my 3rd application after a few weeks off and I look all sunkissed and glam (in my head anyway) already

MrsMeow · 30/04/2010 21:46

tulpe do you just use it neat on your face? I've only tried it once, didn't dare risk it neat for fear of looking Oompa Loompa ish so mixed it with a bit of Nivea, but it didn't make a blind bit of difference!

thislittlesisterlola · 30/04/2010 21:51

couple of quick questions- does it smell like of that awful fake tan smell? Also where do you get yours-do the prices vary much?

MrsMeow · 30/04/2010 21:56

It does have that strange biscuity smell, but nowhere NEAR as strong as regular fake tan. I put mine on before bed, have a quick shower in the morning and am good to go. It's not that strong that you have to shower though IMO.

I got mine from Boots, think it was £14 or something. I think it's a similar price online as well, although you may get it cheaper on ebay.

tulpe · 30/04/2010 22:04

MrsMeow - yes, use it neat on my face. I use the one for Fair skin. It still gives me a lovely golden glow and not remotely Oompah Loompah like

Oh and I will steal your tip re: mixing with moisturiser around ankles etc.

MrsMeow · 30/04/2010 22:11

Cool thanks, I'll give it a go then! I do the moisturiser thing on my knees as well, but only because I'm too lazy to exfoliate properly first!

DarrellRivers · 01/05/2010 08:53

Reporting back on colour
Lovely gentle tan, looks like I have been on a sunny hol but not hard core sleb orange colour
Slight smell overnight but I would say about 20% of smell compared to previous product.
Need to apply better though, you need to make sure that is evenly applied as is good colour, have small poorly applied area on leg
I put it neat on face and look much healthier than I have looked in years
£14 at Boots
I am v impressed

darryl I find the St tropez mousse not cream is best for the hard core stuff. but I use the Everyday st trpoez too

deaddei · 01/05/2010 10:04

I spent a fortune last week on Guerlain's tanning stuff- a heap of shite.
Despite the assistant (lying bint!) assuring me it would be fine for my pale skin, it has that orangey look, and I nearly took the skin off my legs scrubbing it off.
I have booked a St T in a couple of weeks with my trusted beautician who knows I will kill her if it looks dodgy.
I just want a gentle glow- is that too much to ask????

thehillsarealive · 01/05/2010 10:09

deaddei - the ONLY fake tan that looks ok on me is St Tropez, I have used ALL the gradual tans and I look awful, not tanned, just orange.

I am trying the Neutrogena one again to see if it is me, no matter how much I exfoliate or apply in the correct manner I look patchy and oompa loompa.

I am destined to be nicely bronzed by the sun (using high SPF sunscreen) on my arms, chest etc, but pale blue legs.

deaddei · 01/05/2010 10:12

Yes why do my legs stay white?
Tis one of the mysteries of life.

deaddai make sure you take the Guerlain stuff back if it is shite. I always make a point of returning stuff if it is crap, especially if I have spent a lot of money on it.

DarrellRivers · 01/05/2010 11:23

My legs are immune to the sun
Sun kissed arms and hands, slight change in face colour
Corpse white legs
Am feeling much more positive about summer and bare legs in the face of the Everyday Odourless Product
I can do this [mental strength]

nowherewoman · 01/05/2010 11:27

When I use the gradual stuff, it leaves me smelling likes I've not washed my clothes properly. Does it do this?

DarrellRivers · 01/05/2010 11:38

I have just sniffed myself and I smell normal I think

OP posts:
thelunar66 · 01/05/2010 11:40

Why oh why do legs remain white? 14 frickin days in Egypt last summer... came back with v.brown everything, except lower legs - the one bit I need to be brown! Grrr.

MadameCastafiore · 01/05/2010 11:45

I use the everyday spray tan from St Tropez - just exfoliate and moisturise at night (which you guys do anyway right???!) and then shower in the morning and after drying off spray a very light mist over your legs - it is ace - no having to get your hands on the stuff and ending up with manky orange hands and you can do a couple of sprays in a day - letting them dry inbetween - for a darker colour!
