It has been a while since I used some fake tan
Have just used the St Tropez gradual moisturiser tan.
It is really pleasant to use
Not smelly
Dries pretty quickly so have slapped on and got dressed after a few mins.
Will report back tomorrow on the colour

Does anyone else have a problem with allergic reactions to tanning products? I've spent a fortune on a load of different products and come out in hives all over my body. The worst one was that johnsons stuff.

Am I forever stuck with being pale and uninteresting?

nickschick · 01/05/2010 11:48

Ive tried them all and somehow they all smell like a roast beef dinner on me.

nowherewoman · 01/05/2010 11:49

Oh my god it must be something in me that makes the smell
Please tell me I'm not the only one who smells like dirty washing!

DarrellRivers · 01/05/2010 11:50

WB, that is why I stopped a few years ago, to give my legs a rest
I'm sure they give me a dermatitis if I use the full strength stuff
I try to use hydrocortisone ointment reasonably regularly to keep my skin 'relaxed'

I used to be fine, used Lancome all the time then, one day, whoosh, saucer sized lumps all over my pins

I've just found out I'm very allergic to a preservative called something like methyliononeozoneone, it's a big word like that anyway. I might check out the ingredients on a few products now, see if any are free of it.

Sets of dermatitis on my hands too .

I've used the St tropez everyday one, it's really easy to put on, but doesnt develop on me until the following day at the earliest. I think I paid about £12 for it at TK Max.

I've just been for a spray tan today in one of those booth things today, it was £15 and the color looks great already, although the girl said it would take 12hrs to develop fully.
I love a healthy glow (it makes me feel so much better) but I always use fake.
I also have tried Clairns and it was really good on my face but more expensive.

MrsMeow · 04/05/2010 14:13

I am SO glad it's not just me that has the blue legs thing! It doesn't matter how tanned the rest of my body gets, my legs rarely go any darker than very very milky coffee colour!

I forgot to say in my last post, I'd advise using a mitt to put the fake tan on. I bought a St Trop towelling one for about £3 or something and I get a MUCH better finish using this than just putting on with my hands. Obviously no orange palms either!

MimsyStarr · 04/05/2010 14:40

nowherewoman I don't know about dirty washing, but I reckon I smell like soggy cornflakes for a few days after a spray tan/using any brand full strength tanners.

The gradual ones (any brand) are the only thing I will use now.

omnishambles · 04/05/2010 14:45

Very jealous of all of you who can use fake tan - have done spray booths (orange) proper st tropez at a salon (orange) loads of different ones at home (orange)...

Have given up now...
