Usually a complete bun fight - get your elbows ready if you want to bag a bargain, and get there early!

A tried and tested tactic is to get in quick put anything you think even may be ok into your basket and then sort through when you have completely exhausted every bucket....

OMG this sounds like it's a military mission.....ummm some would say it is I suppose...

moocowmrs · 22/04/2010 18:29

Thanks, thought as much will think I will go and see. Do you think it is worth it though?

I have bought some good stuff in the past - but be prepared to wade through alot of stuff you have never seen in the catalogue before...

Get there early, and even then you'll find a queue!

notbloodybranston · 22/04/2010 18:59

ohh I'm going to this (if it's the one in Manchester)

Can I ask - are the clothes dumped in size order or in type order IYSWIM? Am naively hoping to follow a large sign that says "This way for 3-4 Boys' Clothes"

PestoMonster · 22/04/2010 19:02

There won't be anything in the sizes you want.

Guaranteed.

MadameCastafiore · 22/04/2010 19:03

Yep clothes are all in piles/boxes according to size. Take a huge Blue Ikea carrier bag thingy or 3 if you are me and dump everything you may like in it then go off to a corner to sort through whilst giving the other middle class mummies the evil eye if they come near your stuff.

We off on a road trip down to Surrey in May for our 'local' one after they moved them from East Anglia this year!

You really do have to put politeness to one side though and beprepared to elbow in for what you want.

notbloodybranston · 22/04/2010 20:05

Might go to the gym in preparation.

One last question - exactly how good a bargain are we talking. Not sure it's worth an elbow in my ribs for any other than 50% off?

moocowmrs · 22/04/2010 20:41

That was my thought !

The last time I went to one they ave you big bags as you went in.

Lots of people were just grabbing any old thing, then sitting down and sorting through it to see wheat they really did want, and discarding the rest.

They had set up a nice tea and cake area (otherwise known as a cafe, ) , which was good.

I did get some amazing bargains..they have stuff that is no longer available on the website, even in the sale section.

I shall certainly be going next time there is one near me, and I shall be getting there straight after school drop off.

nancy75 · 22/04/2010 20:52

how do you find out where they are?

Disenchanted3 · 22/04/2010 20:55

where in manchester is it?

MrsStig · 22/04/2010 20:56

You can phone up Boden and ask about their "town hall sales"

If you've ordered from them, they usually send you a postcard letting you know when there is one near you.

Disenchanted3 · 22/04/2010 20:56

oooh its right nr my mum

Disenchanted3 · 22/04/2010 20:59

LynetteScavo · 22/04/2010 21:20

Disenchanted3 · 22/04/2010 21:24

I wanted some colourful kids top, I don't ever buy boden but I might go and have a look.

cornsilk · 22/04/2010 21:25

I buy loads of boden for my ds's.Am hoping for bargains galore.

Disenchanted3 · 22/04/2010 21:26

Is it not even worth thinking about taking children? I might call MIL and ask her to watch them

Disenchanted3 · 22/04/2010 21:28

will they take cards or do i need cash?

cornsilk · 22/04/2010 21:32

God I don'tknow!

cornsilk · 22/04/2010 21:33

Shall we have a secret code. We could mutter,'You twat,' at other shoppers under our breath for instance.

LynetteScavo · 22/04/2010 21:33

Cards or cash are fine.
Will your DS1 still wear Boden, Cornsilk?

My DS1 is turning his nose up at most of the Boden stuff , and was a bit in Gap today, but would happily have let me buy him half the Animal shop.

cornsilk · 22/04/2010 21:37

I get him boden hoodies and stick them in his drawer. He wears them anyway. He is permanently in trackies so it's my attempt at smartening him up! He also wears some of the t-shirts -he likes the one with the electric guitar on from this season. Ds2 is usually top to toe Boden. He's a big lad and it fits him.
