I can't decide if its worth going.

Early morning, arrange childcare, 40 mins on a bus...?!

cornsilk · 22/04/2010 21:43

sounds a bit like hard work that Dis.

Disenchanted3 · 22/04/2010 21:55

Iknow, i'll be gutted if there some cute girls tops tho

FourArms · 22/04/2010 22:04

Oooh, that reminds me that there is one near to me in a couple of weeks. Can't decide if it will be worth the effort! It's about an hours drive away, but could be a nice day out!

Could only arrive just at opening time though, would I have to queue for ages to get in?

Went to a Letterbox clearance once, was mad!

domesticslattern · 22/04/2010 22:25

I went to one once. It was a complete bunfight. People were basically scooping up great huge piles of clothes, as much as they could physically carry, and then running off like squirrels to a corner of the hall so they could sort through their booty. People were pretty aggressive too if they thought you were going to get something before them!

The discounts were not that deep and the queue to pay was gigantic. My top tip is FGS don't take your children with you.

cornsilk · 22/04/2010 22:28

do you want me to try to get some stuff for you and send it to you dis?

kittya · 22/04/2010 22:58

do they not do it online as well? I couldnt be bothered to fight for it

Disenchanted3 · 23/04/2010 08:17

Thanks cornsilk but its ok, it sounds hellish, I'm not really into Boden, I just thought it might be worth going for some of the cute t-shirts.

I'll go to next today, lol.

mysteryfairy · 23/04/2010 11:29

Has anyone had experience of going to day two of one of these sales - do they bring more stuff out or is it just the dregs from the previous day?

trice · 23/04/2010 11:33

The prices are not worth it. They are only the same as the online sale but with less choice.

SparkyMalarky · 23/04/2010 11:40

From memory they bring more out each day - it's hell but I did get some bargains - pumps for £20, a coat for £40, shorts for DS for a fiver etc. Menswear was disappointing IIRC but I managed to get DH a shirt or two (£15?) to say thank you for watching the kids - do not take them unless they are trained in unarmed combat

moocowmrs · 23/04/2010 18:00

I have just rung to check the card situation and they said it was cash only. Which I thought was a bit odd but both my fiend and I have rung and go the same answer so must be true.

I went to one last year and they did take cards! Definitely worth going - got tons of bargains. Best one was £100 off a bag.

Went on day two as well.

kittya · 23/04/2010 21:39

The stuff on the sale pages now, isnt it just going to be that? theres not much left.

TheFutureMrsClooney · 23/04/2010 22:45

You should all wear badges with your MN nicknames.

Cabatach · 23/04/2010 23:35

No, it's not just what is left on the sale pages. I would say it is from the past two years - well what is left!

moocowmrs · 24/04/2010 16:40

We got there at 11.15 no kids stuff left at all, I got 2 x trousers for 10 each and 2 x cardigans for £30 each one was cashmere though !
Was very disappointed at lack of kids stuff but there was lots of mens.

Lots of stuff that had obviously not sold well.

But overall happy with what I got for the money.

We got there at 9 and there were already 60 people in front of us for a 10am opening.

All the aged 2-3 stuff had gone by 10.15am (my sister and friend literally ran there)and got about 5 pieces each.

I got lots of clothes for my 5 year old DD (bought aged 7-8 so they should fit this autumn and next) and got her some boots and summer sandals.

Was pleased to see lots of large sizes in ladieswear but when i tried it on I looked like my mum so didn't buy anything. My size 10 sister (gggrrr) couldn't find that much. Lots of mens stuff left.

I talked about mumsnet in the queue (whcih had turned into a WW2 rationing queue with strangers sharing biscuits and swopping magazines) but no one took the hint. Next time will wear name badge
