I really need some new clothes but after returning countless tops that don't fit I've come to the conclusion I have a choice between:

  1. lovely clothes that don't fit
  2. dull dull dull overpriced bravissimo stuff that does at least fit..

HELP!!!!

(I am 34gg and usually end up in a 16 on top)

Breast reduction? I am having one.

moocowme · 18/04/2010 21:52

thats why i make my own clothes. thinking of starting a line in patterns for the more well endowed as every thing in the shops is for a B cup.

hellymelly · 18/04/2010 22:00

there is a place Get Cutie, that makes dresses etc in a range of cupsizes,am not sure of the website name but google it,I have been thinking of buying a dress from them.

muddleduck · 19/04/2010 09:43

moocowme - I'll be your first customer!

hellymelly - thanks, but their prints are a bit too much more me

bumping this after a depressing shopping trip

tried on some tops and dresses all too tight across the boobs
so many dresses are bloody empire line !

I will have to try and find a summery wrap dress in jersey ...how dull

muddleduck · 19/04/2010 17:36

Hi ggirl

if you do find anything that fits, spread the word!

I found a fab summer dress in french connection that fitted beautifully but it washed dreadfully and I had to send it back. It is now out of stock

Hi ScreaminEagle.

any advice on the sizing at simplyyours?

I'm a Bravissimo 12SC, so a 12 at the waist and a 16 at the bust. How much more generous are their cuts at th bust than standard sizes?

I'm a 32HH and recently bought this dress. It looks really lovely, as the slinky fabric is stretchy, you can pull in the bit under the bust and because it's a lovely flowing fabric it skims rather than sticks out. If you don't like that pattern then there are several others on the website that look similar.

I always struggle to find tops, particuarly as the rest of me isn't small either!

muddleduck · 22/04/2010 14:09

Surprise - that is lovely.
I don't really do maxis though - they make me feel like I'm wearing a tent!

And now I have to take back the bit about bravissimo tops fitting - i've washed my new one and it is now a shapeless sack. It is going back!

This is the French Connection one that was a good fit on me - the tie and the strechy fabric keeps it in shape

and I linked this cardi on another thread as being really flattering for me.

muddleduck · 22/04/2010 14:22

oops - ignore that FC link - the one I bought is a different cut in that fabric. The one I meant isn't on their site anymore.

I'm 32 G so totally understand your predicament. Cardis and V neck tops work well. I'd also advice going for tight tops that hug your slim bits, you can always wear a cardi or unbutton shirt over the top if you're feeling self concious. Some Yoga clothing retailers do some good comfy stuff.

I got some great tops from Urban Outfitters recently that were very flattering and stylish

take a look at these, they both worked with my huge boobs

There are so many of us with huge norks posting about our clothes/bras issues I'm surprised its only Bravissimo that seem to do anything aimed at us.

Another Mnetter linked to this site where you can design your own dress/top/skirt, but best of all they do your own measurements for a fiver more! I'm quite excited about having a properly fitting dress that isn't jersey or a wrap dress!

gleegeekgleek · 22/04/2010 19:35

There's a lovely lingerie firm called Miss Mandalay - worth a google.

muddleduck · 22/04/2010 19:44

thanks ladies.

shall we try and keep this thread going with any other good buys that we find?

OP posts:
Surprise · 22/04/2010 19:51

I've found that those "waterfall" cardigans look good, as they seem hang loosely either side of your norks. Well they seem to work for me anyway

OurLadyOfPerpetualSupper · 22/04/2010 19:56

I agree with Belove - layers are the way to go, so I have loads of close-fitting jersey tops, vests for summer, long-sleeved scoop necks in winter, then wear a cardi or shirt on top with top buttons open.
Agree dresses are difficult - I tried on several today and came away very depressed (am 32f but was G until recent weight loss).
I know it's poo-poo'd a lot on here, but I've had jersey sort of empire line dresses from White Stuff which work with a vest under, also Avoca Anthology.
And I thought the maxi dress in the latest Bravissimo catalogue looked worth a try.
I've also discovered that 'wench' style blouses can be flattering, and are really cool in the heat as they're light and loose
Great idea to have a tips thread for people of vast boobage!

OurLadyOfPerpetualSupper · 22/04/2010 20:00

Meant to say, Muddleduck - have you tried a 14 or even a 12 with top buttons open?
I wore 14 on top for a long time but 12 fits much more neatly on my shoulders and waist.
Oh, and I've also discovered waterfall cardis - trying not to buy too many as I can't decide whether they're peaking this year and will be the new shell suits next!

KristinaM · 22/04/2010 21:05

i have two dresses from phase eight that are a great fit on my 32FFs

blue

purple

they are not really summery but i like dresses with sleeves.because they fit snugly under the bust they avoid that maternity smock look. but i still had to buy a Large even though i am a dress size 10

They are are not cheap but i got them in debenahams 25% off weekend

muddleduck · 23/04/2010 09:48

ooh - love that first P8 dress Kristina... bit put off by the 'dry clean only'.

Also love the look of that design your own site..

Just remember this dress from Wallis
Wallis
The fit is perfect.
They have various colours and a long-sleeved version.

I fint that gathering around the neck works really well - I have some M&S tees like this

OP posts:
KristinaM · 23/04/2010 09:54

yes, its more an occasion dress than everyday/ work dress, especially with kids

but the style works really well for me, i'm looking soemthing similar in a more practical fabric

muddleduck · 23/04/2010 09:55

let me know if you find it

maybe try the wallis one - boring but useful...
