What to Wear in this Weather?

MissWooWoo · 06/04/2010 12:51

just returned from a very lovely hot holiday where I've been wearing very little but now have no idea what to wear out there ... the jeans and long sleeve t I'm currently in seem so wrong and I'm sure - despite a flash of sun - it's too cold yet for a skirt?

what does everyone else wear for inbetween weather like this?

Ah, with one fell swoop Tethersend solves all my spring wardrobe dilemmas

AnyFucker · 06/04/2010 19:22

do they do it in sugar pink ?

janeite · 06/04/2010 20:13

Have been in central London today and it was really, really warm. Lovely but I was dressed all wrong (left Birmingham in the cold this morning!). I wore jeans, a long sleeved t-shirt, a short sleeved cardi and a mac trench coat thing and ended up carrying the cardigan and mac around all day. Really, really wished I'd worn a pretty dress.

tethersend · 06/04/2010 20:28

I broke a sweat on the way home from the park.

AnyFucker · 06/04/2010 20:35

what were you running away from, tethers ?

been flashing again ...

tethersend · 06/04/2010 21:33

Don't know what you're on about, I'm sure.

NorkilyChallenged · 06/04/2010 21:47

tethers - I regularly break a sweat on the way home from the park. That's just my sorry level of fitness though.

Had a thoroughly depressing evening and want to buy a spring coat to cheer myself up. I have nothing (well I have a 10 year old horrible leather jacket and a very short denim jacket and nothing else).

AnyFucker · 06/04/2010 22:16

noooo, norki

it has stains on it < shudder >

I can sell my trenchcoat on ebay for more because of the stains.

So there.

Just reviving this thread for us all.

I am really struggling now. I think this happens to me every year.

Today I flashed my lower leg in a pair of rather nice brown capris from M&S (wish had bought 2 pairs last year) and a vest plus oooh new Boden crop cardi combo.

Can I also go for a long tunic and leggings/jeggings?

Feet were a real issue tho - I ended up in wedge sandals but it felt far too soon.

What might be better? I seem to have nothing (apart from running shoes) between boots various (too hot now) and sandals - oh and vertigo-inducing high heels for the office job I no longer have .

Any advice, on clothes but esp on shoes?

Clary · 09/04/2010 22:03

c'mon girls, don't leave me languishing!

What shoes do I wear tomorrow (and the next day...)

KristinaM · 09/04/2010 22:12

i am wearing woolly tights, thermals and boots

its baltic up here

you are all mad

suwoo · 09/04/2010 22:19

I cracked open the birki's today.

I wore them with my leggings but am officially not sure.

KristinaM · 09/04/2010 22:22

i thought you lived in Hong Kong suwoo?

suwoo · 09/04/2010 22:31

Ha ha, you are so mixing me up with someone else. I live in fucking Manchester

KristinaM · 09/04/2010 22:36

i am totally disillusioned now

i was hanging on your every word as a stylish laydeeee and now i discover you are a big northern burd

suwoo · 09/04/2010 22:44

Less of the big, bitch.

So sorry to dissapoint you, but us northern monkeys have style too. Just think of.....erm Mel B, Alex Curran, the cast of Coronation St....

KristinaM · 09/04/2010 22:52

i KNOW you northerners have style - i have been to newcastle on a saturday night. not a birkie to be seen...............

Clary · 09/04/2010 23:05

But kristina it's warm here.

Car temp said 18 degrees today!!

Really I was fine outside in temp/comfort terms in crops, vest and cardi - but not happy with shoes and need other ideas for outfits.

webchick · 09/04/2010 23:23

I wore converse shoes today for 1st time this year along with lightweight trousers which was fine for weather but longsleeved top too heavy & was all hot after an hour at park, might get out spring/summer clothes this weekend (in loft).

Clary · 09/04/2010 23:30

Converse, that's as in plimsolls, right?

Like this not convinced

Alternative seems to be this kind of thing apparently for middle-aged woman (the M&S Portfolio range that is) so it's rather worrying that I am drawn to it....

Better than posh plimmies tho (I mean for someone who is 46 therefore, frankly, middle-aged!!

KristinaM · 09/04/2010 23:42

clary - please walk away from Portfolio, Just say no

46 is the new 26, dontcha know

i am 48 and wear converse, just not with crops/skits/dresses as i have skinny legs and big feet

if you are more in proportion than me then go for it

Clary · 09/04/2010 23:45

Oh is Portfolio not good then?

I liked these ballet flats (new area for me) with all the bits on. Are they in fact icky??

No, legs not skinny. Also can't buy shoes that I couldn't possibly ever ever wear to work. Except running shoes of course but that's different.

KristinaM · 09/04/2010 23:55

what do i knwo, i am 48???

no portfolio in general not good IMHO

but if you are a runner you shoudl be able to show off your nicely toned legs ( last thing to go on a woman )
