Wellies - big calves :-(

Any ideas?

Don't have massively big ones, just wider than the standard boot.

I don't fancy any with a huge "gusset" (shudder) as they look like they just accentuate the wide calf problem.

Under £50 would be fab - under £35 even better.

I like these, but not sure what the calf measurement is.

My calves are slightly wider than standard too. I bought the Hunter Neoprene-lined wellies. They are slightly wider than the regular Hunters but still a slim, flattering cut, iyswim.

They are also super warm. Some people say they find the soles too slippy but I have to say the grip on those ones are fab. I wear mine every day to walk dog along pavements and fields.

Yep - those are the ones. A friend of mine has standard Hunters and they don't look any different to hers but there must be a slightly wider fitting on the calf because standard fit would cut my circulation off.......if I could get into the blighters in the first place!!

The Huntress ones are rubbish if you are only slightly wide of calf. They are very loose and unflattering around the ankle.

It might be worth searching on google and seeing if you can get them cheaper. However, when I asked on this board about Hunters, the consensus was that there are a lot of fakes out there so better to buy from reputable retailer.

I have a pair of Muddies, they are warm and really comfortable. I bought mine from here, though they are now not in the wide calf selection.

Blimey thiese things are not cheap are they? Goddamn my big legs. I hate having to pay more just because I'm not a skinny minny.

Its just like the whole larger size bra's being more expensive thing. Don't get me started...!

OP how big are your calves. I need to buy boots in Duo or Buckles n Bows but I got welies in my local Dunnes store. They were about £10 and fine for walking the mile and back to school in the snow. Not sure they'd be great for heavy duty long term wear but they're fine for my needs.

this are a little shorter then most and are fine for my mahoosive calves! (I cant wear uggs there so big!)

I love mine! they come up huge thoug! im normally an 8 and i had to get a 6!

Don't be put off by the gusset ones! My last 2 pairs have had gussets but they let you get your leg in and then you can pull them tighter. My latest ones are v flattering and also v comfy for walking as they are fitted at the ankle before widening out so foot doesn't slip IYSWIM.

These also v good for chunky calves according to a friend as sides are stretchy.

These should hit the spot on width and price.

I am also skint and wide-calved. I have worn mine pretty much every day for two years, and they just need replacing now. Town and Country wellies

Calves with jeans on are about 43cms giving a generous bit of room extra.

I like the look of the town and country ones but they don't give a calf measurement. That does annoy me! They look the best bet so far.

I'm not big on the shorter wellies, but then they are probably more sensible for everyday use doing school run etc.

I can't find the perfect welly! Am I very sad?

Maybe its because I once saw the Marc Jacobs £15 ones in the newspaper and have coveted them ever since :-)

Pippi - My calves with jeans on are 43 cm too, and the T&C ones fir just fine. The ones on the link I postyed look like they have a different sole unit (mine are black on the red wellies), but this doesn;t mean that the leg is different.

I am also desperate for some wellies. I bought some for £15 from Homebase a couple of years ago but can't get my left leg in. The kids take it in turns to wear them. I would spend up to £40 if they fit perfectly and would last a few years at least.

I did what rubysreturn did... £12 in Asda, and chopped off a couple of inches off the top. Fit perfectly now!

I bought these and they arrived look V nice, but snug around the calf - probably can't easily get jeans in, and are really really baggy around the ankle.

Is that a standard for wellies? They just slopped about a lot.

Bought mine from Asda for £1.49 last winter in the sale - ok they are kids Hannah Montana ones with a dangly guitar hanging from them but they do the job! They come just below my calves so don/t have to worry about the squeeze!

I would like to second the Town and Country ones, I have big calves and mini ankles and these fit really well.
I got mine for £12 from TK Maxx.

The Town and Country ones are looking good to me - they do look smaller at the ankle.

Don't do fancy colours and patterns - but then to be honest they are only going to get covered in mud and worse.
