Hi, I went into town today trying to get an outfit for my 12 year old Stepdaughter.

I've got boys and was brought up in Tammy girl (where's that gone?) Where should I look for clothes? I've bought her stuff in Asda/Tesco before but wanted more of a brand name for a present (not silly prices though) Any online stores too?

What do 12 year olds wear anyway????

What about Gap stuff, i would think that would go down well.

MarsLady · 23/07/2005 21:57

too little!

MarsLady · 23/07/2005 21:59

Gap, H&M, Next. Have you got an Atlantic? Also New Look. Topshop.

It's hard buying for them. My DD1 is almost 11 and it gets harder and harder.

Smurfgirl · 23/07/2005 21:59

Topshop and Miss Selfridge do decent fashion type stuff in size 6/8 woudl that be small enough?

My friend's 12 year old wears a lot of New Look 9-15 stuff, its their younger range, maybe try that?

nutcracker · 23/07/2005 22:00

Yeah Topshop would be a big hit i think.

Catbert · 23/07/2005 22:01

Pumpkin Patch have a teen girl section called "Urban Angel" which is quite cool...

bubblerock · 23/07/2005 22:05

She is very skinny, there's definately a gap in the market isn't there? I don't want to put her in really grown up stuff but wouldn't buy barbie etc...

Haven't heard of Atlantic or pumpkin patch , are they online?

Smurfgirl · 23/07/2005 22:06

Topshop does stuff like vests and nice skirts, its probably a lot less tarty than Tammy TBH, their size 6 in their petite ranges are TEENY.

Miaou · 23/07/2005 22:09

Do you have a MacKays near you? We have them in Scotland but also had them in the north of England, not sure if they extend to your neck of the woods.

They have a section called Kylie [vomit emoticon] - it's actually quite good stuff, trendy without being "mini prostitute" look IFSWIM. Designed for 10-16 year olds IIRC.

MarsLady · 23/07/2005 22:09

sadly Pumpkin Patch is not yet online. However, I will be in Southampton for the next couple of weeks and I will be spending spending spending.

Their young teens range is fabulous. Not too grown up and not too babyish!

Their babies range is wonderful! As you may guess I am coming home from Southampton very very poor!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

MarsLady · 23/07/2005 22:10

Atlantic is just a shop on the high street.

MarsLady · 23/07/2005 22:14

Pumpkin Patch website. Giving details of shops and how to get their catalogue which you can't order from

so slow lockets my lovely.

bubblerock · 23/07/2005 22:15

It's a bit crap here as it's mainly aimed at clubbers, we haven't even got a Debenhams (being built at the moment) I guess it doesn't help that all the stores look like tips because of the sales and there's bloody tourists everywhere!!
