Shoes for this dress?

Received http://www.coast-stores.com/IRIS-PRINTED-DRESS/All-Sale/coast/fcp-product/2334337589 this dress from the Coast sale this morning. I'm thinking about wearing it for DS's 1st birthday party, as it's pretty but not too over the top, IYSWIM. The dress falls just above the knee.

I need shoes that are practical enough to run around after DS, but still look good. Tricky, I know!

Oh, I knew I should preview.

Are you wearing tights? If so, what colour?

tethersend · 19/03/2010 20:45

heels or flats?

SpringyWho · 19/03/2010 20:45

I could do - I wondered about it, but wasn't sure yet. I'm open to buying tights too, if you have a vision?

I can do mid-heels, but would rather they had ankle straps or something to stop them flopping around if I have to suddenly make a dash after DS. I don't want anything too high, as it'll end in disaster. Flats are obviously totally flexible as the safe option.

ballet flats like these
mary jane's slight heel
shoe boots bit more funky

SpringyWho · 19/03/2010 21:12

Hmm, the ballet flats are a bit dull, I think. I do have some plain black ballet flats that I can use if I can't find anything else.

The MJs are quite nice, but I don't like the heel - I think a slightly bigger heel would suit them better.

I'd not really considered shoe boots for the dress, but they could work if I found the right ones.

Definitely some things to think about there, thank you

I would probably go for red shoes and nude legs or black opaques... something like this or this... or even this

tethersend · 19/03/2010 21:19

And stick a red flower in your hair or wear red lipstick.

SpringyWho · 19/03/2010 21:22

Ooh, I like the first ones - I was thinking red earlier, actually. They're pretty, but practical. Maybe with some red bangles & lipstick.

I'm getting more excited about dressing up for a boring family party than I really should

Cross posts about the lipstick!

They were my favourite ones
