If you're anything like me and just hate being hungry, porridge with soya milk is a good one to stop you chewing off your own hand! it is hot and feels like food too!

You are average though as the average is 5f2 and 10 stone.

Though it is interesting that you would be able to fit into my clothes which are a size 12? As I am 6" taller than you and 9.9stone

do you think dress size should be smaller or bigger? I am definitely size 12 but if I lost just 5 lbs I would be a size ten. if i were ten stone i'd be size 14 definitely.

I am a size 12 - and if I lost 5ILB and was 9.4 I would still be a size 12 - 20 years ago when I was 8.7IB I was a size 12

I guess if you are 5f2" then your waiste shouldn't be 30" it should be smaller?

Report
Maggie00 · 19/03/2010 17:43

yeah it should be smaller!!!!

I guess my waist is about 28 and a half. I aint no marilyn monroe.

I'm 5'2" and was definitely a little too big at 10 stone, was a size 12 too. I am now back to 8 stone and I am not too thin, not skinny at all, although I would be if I lost any more.

I am a size 6/8 in most places but I am getting increasingly mad at shops like fatface who have vanity sized me out of their clothes (although looking at their latest offerings I'm not too gutted about that).

You are not too fat- you are just too short. That's what I tell myself, anyway

Report
probonbon · 19/03/2010 17:56

I am a bit surprised. I thought eight is about right for five to five one. I don't think that's frail or skinny.

i'm 5ft 3 & 8st 3.5 at the mo...I'm feeling a bit heavy..fatty legs. Ideal weight for me is 7st 12

I just love it when size 8/10 glide on me...at the mo I have to shoehorn myself into some of my clothes.

Report
probonbon · 19/03/2010 17:59

yes same.. I'm five one and about eight two and I can pinch two inches easily

Report
Ivykaty44 · 19/03/2010 18:02

I would have thought for 62" around 120-130 ibl would be ideal?

probonbon, once when i was obsessed with food and exercise I was 8 stone 2. That is the lightest I've ever been, and I was eating far less than I would have liked to. Eventually I decided that the effort to maintain that weight was just too great.

I would like to be 8 stone 2 again, people told me I looked great when I was, but I need to be able to think about other things besides food!!!! And I can't go round being hungry and I can't run every day. I do envy people who have small frames and small appetites. My appetite isn't huge btw. Little and often. But I don't 'forget to eat'. oh no , never. !

probonbon · 19/03/2010 18:10

oh gawd what's that in old money ivy?

Maggie I suppose what suits, suits. It feels a little big to me and I don't think I have any eating issues but I wouldn't like to encourage them elsewhere and sorry if it seems like that. I just don't think it's "too skinny", not for me anyway.

8st sounds about right if I were my build but your height iyswim.

Love the idea that you are not fat, just too short

Report
probonbon · 19/03/2010 18:12

14 times eight is one twelve so 120 is eight eight and 130 is nine four

is that right?

I would feel big at that but I guess it's still in the BMI range?

Maggie00 · 19/03/2010 18:19

I remember once trying to get an anorexic girl at work to calculate her BMI. I thought it might shock her. But she was too dizzy (from lack of energy I mean, not stupid) to concentrate long enough to do the formula!

which is....... your weight in kilos divided by... Your height in metres multiplied by itself... (eg, 1.55X1.55).

all clear!?

The girl I worked with had a bmi of 16. i hope she's ok now.

bmi check.

Beeny - thats about the same as my mother and she could stand to lose a stone really. But she's an apple shape and so its really quite unhealthy for her to carry that much weight around her middle.

I'm 5ft and have a bmi of around 19/20 I think - so fairly slim. But it means I am careful about what I eat but for me its worth it to be able to wear the clothes I want and to feel healthy.

I'm an apple shape too though so am very aware of health implications of gaining weight and at just 5ft every extra few lbs really shows.

the answer for eating less, imo, is more protein & less carbs. I used to eat lots of carbs & was ALWAYS hungry. When I changed this, I natually ate less. I've put on weight by not listending to this..and so being constanly 'nibbly' & hand in the chocolate cupboard

I'm 5'2 and have just lost some weight to get me down to 7lb 13.

I don't carry weight well as I have a round face, no chin and awful thighs (Thin Gail Platt with Lily Allens's thighs and a globe for a head).
I was 8st 7, which although not huge of course, not an unhealthy BMI, I burst the button on my size 8 trousers, and yes, they were 8's, not 18's, but I don't suit being that size, and I want to be slim.

I don't look slim at that weight.

Think, not Thin Gail Platt.

I wonder how much chin implants cost.....

depends on your fitness, musculature and shape.

i'm 5'2" (ok, 5' 1.5") and currently i'm a bit fat due to a recent injury but at 10stone i am a fit and muscular size 10 due to years of martial arts, mountain biking and running half marathons.

i know other people my height who are more like 8 stone.. it just depends as i say on build and musculature.

however, if you feel fat, or 'chubby' or whatever and have a spare tyre round your middle then you can clearly lose weight... go for it!
