not keen on foundation but was thinking maybe tinted moisturiser could be the way to go-anyone know a good one? obviously i would love something that would transform me into a dewy-skinned maiden of 19 or whatever...but would settle for looking a bit less haggard sometimes

Laura mercier is great. They'll try and persuade you to buy the primer but I really don't think it's worth it.

aquavit · 19/03/2010 12:39

yup, Laura Mercier is the bollocks. They do an oil-free one too if you prefer (I like the original but have quite dry skin). I agree about the primer, just use a really good moisturiser.

I also like Clinique, though it is more orangey (and somehow stickier) so I only wear it in summer once I've got a bit of a tan.

Bobbi Brown also good though I find it a tad heavy (they also do a really quite heavy cream version - apparently great if you have really dry skin).

Clarins is quite good too but a)big difference between the very palest and the next shade up - i.e. where most British people are! and b)heavy scent

I use benefit

saythatagain · 19/03/2010 12:56

Could I jump in here and ask:
I have red cheeks - would something like the Laura Mercier give good coverage? If so which particular one (I'm pale of face...bar the blotches). If not, what product do you/anyone suggest. Many thanks

hairtwiddler · 19/03/2010 12:58

Boots no.7 or body shop do cheaper ones, both really nice.

DebiNewberry · 19/03/2010 12:58

Yes, agree very best tm is laura mercier. weirdly sheer yet covering.

Am routinely told that I have great skin, but only when wearing this.

Have also tried the Chantecaille one which was ££££ imo and not All That.

OOh I'm watching this....I have good skin (for advanced age!) and want a tinted moisteriser.I'm pale too, with a few thread veins. (how attractive) Laura Mercier sounds good.

Cobblers · 19/03/2010 14:33

Yep, I too have pale skin and high cheek colour and the laura mercier evens it out a treat. Go and ask for a sample to take home so you can see for yourself in good/ normal light.

Toots · 19/03/2010 14:51

I like Pixi. All very natural 'n' ting. Their hydrotint comes with a blush stick on the end. Have got quite a pale one. Good for winter.

SchnitzelVonKrumm · 19/03/2010 14:53

Chantecaille way better than Laura Mercier if you're very pale IME

TheCatAteMyGymsuit · 19/03/2010 14:54

Bobbi Brown was great for me (I have dry skin though), and also Estee Lauder Daywear Plus is divine.

norksinmywaistband · 19/03/2010 14:58

I use the clinique almost make up

ArcticRoll · 19/03/2010 15:04

I know everyone rates the Laura Mercier one and it is ok but £££-I prefered Aveda.

MrsGeek · 19/03/2010 15:05

I couldn't ever find the right tinted moisturiser until a friend told me what she did. She picks her favourite moisturiser and foundation, mixes them on the back of her hand and then applies. I was sceptical at first but love it now, I can change the proportions of moisturiser to foundation depending on how rough I look how much I need.

I quite like mixing Clarins Beauty Flash Balm with my foundation for when I want a good made-up look and just just a cheaper Boots one for day to day cover-up.

Does anyone else do this?

CatIsSleepy · 19/03/2010 15:06

tulpe · 19/03/2010 19:52

Chanel's tinted moisturiser is lovely. Very nourishing, gives great coverage.

IfYoureHappyAndYouKnowIt · 19/03/2010 22:16

do those using the Laura Mercier one wear the ordinary one or the illuminating one? I went for a refill last week and they tried to sell me the illuminating one but I wasn't sure whether to buy.
