not keen on foundation but was thinking maybe tinted moisturiser could be the way to go-anyone know a good one? obviously i would love something that would transform me into a dewy-skinned maiden of 19 or whatever...but would settle for looking a bit less haggard sometimes

I am keen on organic products so use a skin tint by Madara - get it on So Organic. Smells divine and gives skin a lovely fresh glow.

oooh I never thought of mixing foundation with beauty flash balm. Will give that a try next time.

I also vote for Laura Mercier - and if it helps have JUST replaced it after using it regularly for 2 years. Its on my list of must have's after having a baby as everyone commmented on how well I looked (on no sleep - thanks Laura Mercier!) A year later I bought the Laura Mercier foundation and primer - gullible as I am - and haven't looked back, some times I mix them, sometimes I use them on their own. I have v sensitive skin and it has been really good. Actually feel money well spent, hope that helps.
