I have the 20 percent discount code and a voucher but, the Spring catalogue isnt inspiring me, has anyone bought anything thats not something too middle aged and really loved it?

love the bag, arcticroll

kittya · 16/03/2010 18:09

Lovely bag but, blooming expensive!! I dont think I could. Yes the vouchers are annoying although I get more annoyed when people who never buy keep getting ten pound off vouchers sent to them and those that do order get buggar all! I decided against the cashmere crop because the reviews all said that the favourite crop is even better and, half the price.

xnht = £10 a £30 spend, works multiple times I think

I fancied the cashmere drop too kittya, but will look at the other one now

ArcticRoll · 16/03/2010 18:15

Felt a bit guilty about buying as it is £££ I had 20% off and had a ten quid credit and I was recovering from operation so justified my indulgence!
[It is lovely btw]

kittya · 16/03/2010 19:54

What colour did you get? it is really lovely.

Yes, ducky, I ordered one because I did get on with the summer full length ones last year. Its just the reviews seemed better (assuming they now put the rubbish reviews in still!) mine should come on Friday, I quite liked the polka dots for a change.

I bought one of the vesty tops and have to say it looks fabulous. There's a seam under the breast which really lifts. My boobs look babelicious ( and they're not iyswim ). Go buy many.

TheCatAteMyGymsuit · 16/03/2010 21:31

Arctic I went a bit mad and bought that for myself today too (but as a birthday present which I hope to be reimbursed for) - thought it was a reasonable price for a leather bag.
I have some lovely clogs in exactly the same colour leather(non Boden).
Rather a lot of nice things in the S/S catalogue I thought - shorts, Breton tops, couple of nice cardis and kaftan stuff - and I don't usually wear much Boden - have bought maybe ten pieces in ten years!

duckyfuzz · 16/03/2010 21:36

cat I think those damas would look lovely with my boden dress

TheCatAteMyGymsuit · 16/03/2010 21:56

Ah yes good call ducky
That dress is pretty but strangely that length does nothing for me, however it would go with those gorgeous shoes v nicely .

kittya · 16/03/2010 22:04

what length is in though this year? I always buy their long sizes even though Im only 5ft 5. I cant stand things just on my knee.

To answer the OP:

No.

HTH.

kittya · 16/03/2010 22:09

The OP is me. I know what you mean but then they give a good discount and you start fancying this and abit of that because you are too lazy to go shopping. Its how they suck you in!

OP posts:
florenceuk · 16/03/2010 23:25

Another one sucked in by 20% discount - I ordered this jacket in navy and some leggings....not to wear together!

kittya · 16/03/2010 23:51

I like that, you must have a great figure, cropped jacket and leggings!! I havent worn leggings since the first time around in the 80's when I was a size 8!

veryconfusedandupset · 17/03/2010 07:23

I have ordered the knot fronted top and the rosette one, both on preview, in white. AND (I must be the oldest person so far to buy from the Johnnie B range)2 pairs of the skinny jeans, Denim and pink, the cable hoodie and the striped one. I am 53, don't laugh.

Chandon · 17/03/2010 07:33

I had a look, and saw nothing I liked.

(am 38, size 12, live in the country, so I should be their ideal demographic, surely???)

I have the same problem with White Stuff and Joules etc. I feel I SHOULD liek it, but I don´t.

IMHO it´s like children´s clothes in adult sizes (cropped pink cardi??!! ), all those bold colours, no sophistication and no sex apeal. No fashion either.

Clary · 17/03/2010 12:54

update...

Parcel arrived today; fave cardi has odd buttons/fastening and is a bit longer than previous years. Not sure. Nice colour and fabric tho.

Merino tunic is lovely, super colour and nice quality knit...but no good for my boobs - have to pull it down to avoid hideous boob-skimming effect and then it rides up again in seconds. That's going to have to go back

Bit of a poor do really. Will have to wait on the dress....

kittya · 17/03/2010 13:27

oh, thats such a shame when you have been waiting for something.

traceybath · 17/03/2010 14:15

I have the cropped pink cardigan - whats all that about?

Its nice, with my skinny jeans, a white vest top and biker boots it looks good.

I also like the cropped cashmere cardigans but the winter versions with crew necks.

weepootle · 17/03/2010 14:19

Jonny very kindly sent me a free £10 gift voucher which I could use along with the 15% off code (no minimum spend) and I took hours last night trying to find something I liked. I finally spent it on something for dd1 but everything I liked was on a 12 week wait.

bellissima · 17/03/2010 15:10

traceybath - I think you have v successfully dressed down the cardi! I too like some of the cropped cardis but I think I know what Chandon is getting at. For me it's the loud print dresses and skirts or hotchpotch.

DD1 (off school malingering 48 hr rule) was looking at the johnnie b catalogue earlier and I found myself thinking that presumably the ideal 'boden buyer' goes from hotchpotch children's stuff to more subtle teenage gear, but then magically rediscovers her inner five year old in the adult catalogue....

traceybath · 17/03/2010 15:15

Oh I know Bellissima but Chandon did specifically refer to the pink cropped cardi - so I took umbrage

I am no hotchpotch wearer but do quite like some of their knitwear and as I'm 5ft the cropped length suits me.

I am hoping I don't look sexless though - in fact I'd say I tend more towards the mutton mummy look

I have the johnnie b skinny jeans and would recommend them but with the proviso that they come up small.

bellissima · 17/03/2010 17:41

I'm a size 8 short-arse and I've now seen several recommendations for the johnnie b skinnies, but I have a horrible feeling that my thighs would produce a squeezed into sausage skins effect. Maybe I should order a pair (under pretext that they are for DD) and try in the privacy of my room, curtains drawn.....

tulpe · 17/03/2010 21:15

Bellissima - that was my fear too. So I ordered both the 28L and 30L. The 28L I could get in to but it wasn't pretty The 30L is perfect but they do need a belt.

fishie · 17/03/2010 21:24

what size are you then tulpe? i am in 28" uniqlo jeans but baulked at teenage 30". i do not have much hips/bot/thigh but am fairly well endowed with tum.
