Hi everyone, can I really thank you all for your help in suggesting some new hair style ideas. It is such a big decision having long hair cut off but I cant tell you all how great I feel with my new do! I have put some new pics on my profile page for you all to see. The stylist was brilliant, she booked out plenty of time so she didn't have to rush and advised me to do it gradually so I was sure at each stage. She said through experience that some clients regret it if they just chop it off super short without any in between stages. She trimmed my hair up to my chin first and then asked if I was still sure, then she styled it in a sort of long fringe Rhianna type cut which I must say looked nice, but I really did want the short Victoria Beckham style for ages. Once we were both certain I wanted the super short crop she then did the final cut. She showed me some styling tips with Mousse and Wax so it does not just sit flat and shapeless. I cant tell you how great I feel, I cant stop touching it!! I went out last night and got so many positive responses which really pleased me, and no more blow drying yippee.
As you can see I don't wear much make up but I feel as its so short I need some more make up so as not to look too boyish, what do you all advise? Also as regard outfits, do you feel more skirts and dresses rather than jeans and trousers so I look more feminine? Thanks for all your advice.

Cant think of much to add on the makeup front - but just wanted to say I love the pics - especially the hari/band/scarf one - fab. Think the lipsticks really good. I wouldnt worry about looking boyish you really dont.

BunnyLebowski · 25/02/2010 14:14

Oh WOW!! It looks gorgeous!!!

I would keep make-up and clothes on the girly side to keep your look feminine but throw in lots of kohl and funky accessories to give it an edge.

You look fab!

YoginiBikini · 25/02/2010 14:16

I'm so glad you came back to say you'd done it!

You look fab in the photos!

There's really no need to worry about looking boyish, but the red lippy really suits you. I'd just stick to a lippy and mascara if you don't usually wear anything

morethanyoubargainfor · 25/02/2010 14:18

you really do look fab, i wish my hair looked like yours .

I also love the lippy .

diddl · 25/02/2010 14:18

I don´t think you need girly clothes or make up to look more feminine.

RipMacWinkle · 25/02/2010 15:07

Just wanted to post to say that I had a look - you look fab! No danger of looking boyish....

Wish I could get my hair done like that (funny ears!). Am v v

vesela · 25/02/2010 15:23

It looks fantastic! I think you were definitely right to go for short at the front rather than the Rhianna do.

Re. clothes - I'd just trust your instincts and wear whatever you feel good in.

AuntieMaggie · 25/02/2010 15:27

Your hair looks fantastic and I think you look fab with the make up you're wearing in that pic so don't need much help!

IamAlsoADreamerOfWine · 25/02/2010 16:13

I liked it better before - sorry

squeaver · 25/02/2010 16:27

Wow. Hats off to you. I can't stand wimps with long hair who won't get it cut short. It's honestly taken years off you.

I can see your point about wanting to stay feminine. I'd say go for heels, whatever you're wearing.

hazeyjane · 25/02/2010 16:28

I have got my hair very short, and tend to wear mascara and blusher (I am very pale though and can look a bit Dame Death witout it!).

I think too many accesories can look a bit Su Pollard, so have a simple necklace and tiny earings, sometimes I wear a little hairslide.

Clothes wise I wear maternity jeans with a variety of smocky tops (I'm 20 weeks pregnant). I think simple black dresses can look very lovely with short hair.

BTW - it really suits you, you look lovely.

southeastastra · 25/02/2010 16:28

like it too! dark lippy looks nice in last photo, i'd go for a slightly darker red

PinkKumquat · 25/02/2010 16:43

You look stunning! Absolutely Gorgeous. The short cut really brings out your features.

I think fairly soft, warm make-up in beigey/rose tones although the red lipstick looks really good too and some simple stud earrings. lol at social worker dangly ones!

Starbear · 25/02/2010 16:47

You look fab! I second the heels & funky twist to everything. I can't suggest anything because other than that I haven't got a clue

brimfull · 25/02/2010 16:54

Lovely cut -very flattering.
Your skin is so damn perfect you dont need makeup.
The lippy is nice.

Earthstar · 25/02/2010 16:57

You look amazing
The bravery paid off!

notacluewhattodo · 25/02/2010 17:01

Love it!

MrsMeow · 25/02/2010 17:23

Wow, you look fantastic! You definitely have the features to carry it off, your eyes are striking I am trying to get up the courage to have my (layered bob) hair cut short, but I kind of hide behind my hair when I'm not feeling 100% so think it may be too drastic for me.

I don't think you need to do much with your make up tbh, but if you wanted more of a dramatic look, you could use a dark smoky eyeshadow and some eyeliner, with maybe just a pale lip gloss. Maybe a bit of blusher as well? No 7 do a lovely powder blush that looks really natural. I look dead without it on!

I don't think you look boyish at all, so carry on with the jeans! Maybe you could try some funky scarves as well?
