Can you style me?

Following on from this thread
Feel free to ignore the angst and just do clothes.

Pics on profile, am 5'2, size 8 usually, 32a/b depending on bra.

Really want to know what will suit me, I usually seem to get it wrong. Would like ideas for everyday (SAHM), slightly more dressed up, and wow.

If that's not too much to ask

OP posts:
tethersend · 20/02/2010 11:22

Well, what do you like to wear?

Whose style do you admire?

Which clothes do you hate?

How old are you?

What's your colouring?

overmydeadbody · 20/02/2010 11:45

I am loving some of the stuff in Joe Brown's spring catalogue, and thing you would suit the pretty floral dresses with your petite frame.

overmydeadbody · 20/02/2010 11:47

dresses like this look good on people like us with small boobs

overmydeadbody · 20/02/2010 11:59

this kind of thing too would show off your fab legs

NorkilyChallenged · 20/02/2010 12:04

As you're a bit shorter than me, you could wear tunic/leggings combo and be sure that the tunic was covering your bum (my eternal problem).

As Tethersend said, what kind of thing do you like?

I love tunics like www.mayhemuk.co.uk/productdetail.asp?name=G_HEAVEN_OWL_TUNIC_PRINT&StockRef=GHOWLTUNICPR and this or even this (see the trend there?). But on me, a lot of them are just a bit too short. On you would be perfect.

With long sleeved tops under, boyfriend cardi over (if it's still too cold) and 8 quid leggings. And boots. Or when the weather finally improves, with converse style pumps or ballet flats, depending on preference.

overmydeadbody · 20/02/2010 12:05

this is nice but don't like the footwear or 3/4 length leggings with it.

AnnArky · 20/02/2010 12:06

you ahev a great figure

go and get some nice jeans
a pari to wear withlong boots and a pair to wear with flats.

get some t shirts

and some sweaters

sorry thast crap isnt it
its hard not seeing your head tbh

NorkilyChallenged · 20/02/2010 12:07

H&M has some nice shirt dresses atm, they were a bit tight on me as I'm a 10-12 but they could look lovely on you.

Also maybe some boyfriend jeans with fitted tops/tops tucked in on the top half? Like the current nautical/breton style top and a little cropped jacket or cardi.

Hard to know what will suit you as it's to do with personality and your own preference re. colours/styles, etc. Skirts vs trousers, all that kind of thing.

AnnArky · 20/02/2010 12:07

boyfriend jeans make me look bigger than i am...

NorkilyChallenged · 20/02/2010 12:09

That can be a problem, AA, but the OP is really quite petite if she's size 8 and 5'2 so I think she could pull it off if the rest of what she wears is more fitted

AnnArky · 20/02/2010 12:10

yes
also lovely bust
you can wear nice scooped tops spec those that cut inunder ( dreaded white stuff do this a lot)

alasixesse · 20/02/2010 12:13

Sorry had to disappear for a bit.

OK, v pale skin (almost blue), blue eyes, reddish brown hair (more brown than red but sun picks up auburn-and the white streaks[grr]).

Am 29

No idea whose style I admire

I don't do ultra casual, it makes me feel a mess. I will wear jeans & fitted tshirt or leggings & tunic but definitely no tracksuits, baggy jumpers or loungewear.

Oh I don't do high fashion either, feel too self conscious

Nothing trashy (gypsy wedding type outfits).

er, I think that's it.

OMDB Joe Browns link didn't work, what's the name of it so I can search their site?

NorkilyChallenged · 20/02/2010 12:13

I am a 34A and find most White Stuff tops/tunics too low cut. Showing an expanse of empty "boy" chest with no hint of cleavage does not look good to me (it seems to be a look that Trinny - if that's the skinny one - wears a lot but I still think it makes her look like a man in drag).

Scoop neck good - Uniqlo heat tech good for me. Or empire line with rounded neck (not too low)

alasixesse · 20/02/2010 12:15

Oh cross posted with lots of you

Sorry about the no head AA, I'm not that brave

OP posts:
AnnArky · 20/02/2010 12:16

coudl layer easily with a nice htin body..

overmydeadbody · 20/02/2010 12:18

Strange. Just search for Joe Brown

alasixesse · 20/02/2010 12:22

Which dress was it you linked to?

OP posts:
tethersend · 20/02/2010 12:33

Ok, well I don't do jeans, so can't advise you there- but I would look at dresses like this with leggings or opaques and jackets like this worn with shoes like this, this or this

How does that make you feel?

tethersend · 20/02/2010 12:34

Do you do heels?

tethersend · 20/02/2010 12:38

These boots are also good (nicked from another thread )

Would you wear something like them?

cybagel · 20/02/2010 12:39

those boots are good, skinny jeans longish top/shirt/little fitted jacket over the top Bobs your uncle

you are very lucky being the size/shape you are

overmydeadbody · 20/02/2010 12:45

shirts like this in other colours too, and stripes, would suit you with skinny jeans underneeth.

overmydeadbody · 20/02/2010 12:49

try agian It was the tiered and tantilising dress.

alasixesse · 20/02/2010 12:50

I like the dress, although it annoys me that the pattern isn't aligned . I also don't think I would spend that much on one item. Jacket is good, although I'd have to see it in the flesh to see if it looked cheap iyswim. Like the pumps but not the other shoes.

I have these boots already

OP posts:
SofaQueen · 20/02/2010 12:56

Well, I am the same height as you and also don't do ultra casual.

You have great legs and you should emphasize them. Skinny jeans, leggings, short skirts.

With our height be careful of patterns - big and bold just don't work with us. Small patterns are good. I would avoid florals because it is just too cutesy on us.

Tailored looks are flattering on us.

Here are some outfit ideas:

-Skinny jeans, heeled ankle boots, stripy loose top which hits mid hips, tailored blazer with rolled up sleeves

-ankle boots, leggings/skinny jeans, long tunic jumper over tee

-long tailored flares, platform court shoes, tailored shirt and fitted jumper

  • Tailored-but-loose minidress with ballerinas
