Where's the best place to sell my mulberry?

Has anyone ever sold one and not been ripped off? I don't think I am all that keen on using Ebay - it seems so full of fakes and mine isn't, although I don't have the receipt. I am also worried about the paypal rules - where you think someone's paid but then they put a stop on the payment. I forget the proper term for this.

Also not sure what price to ask for. The ebay prices don't really help me because of the above reason. It's a black east west Bayswater and I've only used it three times, though I've had it a year. It's just too small for all the rubbish I carry.

you could try to sell it on here?

faustina · 23/01/2010 18:33

is that allowed? How would I go about it - the money thing

I'd be interested in taking it off your hands :-)

Which mulberry is it?

orienteerer · 23/01/2010 19:54

By Mulberry I as assume you mean a handbag?

LetThemEatCake · 23/01/2010 19:55

yes, I'm selling one too (chocolate bayswater( but have resisted ebay so far .. there are for sale boards on MN and I don't think any S&Ber would bat an eyelid if you posted pics to your profile and happened to mention that you were selling it ..

faustina · 23/01/2010 21:36

oh ok - I'll do the photos tomorrow - it's an east west bayswater - you can see them on the mulberry website - smaller than the regular bayswater, but the handles are longer, so it's more comfortable over the shoulder, and it's black.

letthemeatcake - how would you go about working out the price you want? Have you put yours up for sale anywhere?

I've been meaning to get rid of mine for ages - I knew quite soon after I'd got it that it would be too small

I put the photos on my profile but the post didn't show

I've got a black Mulberry bag that's too big for me. It's in very good condition and I'd be up for a swap - if I could remember the model name!

BelleDeChocolateFluffyBunny · 25/01/2010 20:39

I was going to get a new handbag so would be very interested if you stick a picture up and let me know how much you wish to sell it for. IIRC, there's a fee on here for selling things unless they are free for postage. You are best off checking with MNHQ

ThisIsMyDanceSpace · 25/01/2010 20:45

My bag is like this. If you're interested in swapping I'll post some pics of my actual bag

Hogiabach · 25/01/2010 21:32

Ooh, I love the elgin - what colour is it??????

ThisIsMyDanceSpace · 25/01/2010 23:49

It's black - and thank you for reminding me of the name! I knew it was a Scottish town.

faustina · 26/01/2010 06:39

oh thisismydancingspace thank you for the kind offer! I would definitely be interested in having a look at a photo of it. How easy it that bag to carry on the shoulder?

Belledechocolate - the pictures are on my profile. If you're interested I'll try to work out a price. Happy to pay fee to mumsnet if necessary

OP posts:
ThisIsMyDanceSpace · 26/01/2010 12:25

It does carry on the shoulder but it's too long to hang on buggy handles which is why I don't use it. I'll do some pictures as soon as I find the lead to download them!

Carrotfly · 26/01/2010 12:35

That is so so wierd Thisismydancespace, I drive past that shop every morning and having spotted the bag in the window keep meaning to phone up and see how much its been reduced by in the sale.

Very spooked out now ...

Pannacotta · 26/01/2010 15:51

To sell something on MN you pay £5 CAT fee and put an ad on the For sale/Wanted boards

BelleDeChocolateFluffyBunny · 26/01/2010 17:59

faustina, you need to make your profile public so I can see it

faustina · 26/01/2010 18:39

oops! ...... is that working now?

BelleDeChocolateFluffyBunny · 26/01/2010 19:13

I really like it What were you thinking?

fridayschild · 26/01/2010 19:18

I sold some Jimmy Choo shoes recently on a site DH goes to for second hand watches. I checked the price on EBay - not great for shoes without a box - and put them on the watch site for the price I thought I would get on EBay. I was going to put it on here too but we got 3 offers in 10 minutes. Obviously my price was too low!

I thought the watch forum would be good because the people who use it are used to spending money for second hand things on line, which is what you want. If you're interested I'll ask DH what it's called.

joliejolie · 26/01/2010 19:34

I quite like the Elgin bag ThisIsMyDanceSpace.
How much are you asking for it?

PercyPigPie · 26/01/2010 20:17

I have sold Mulberry on Ebay several times (bought from the factory shop, changed my mind but they wouldn't refund, so I exchanged for several smaller bags which I sold on Ebay). I seem to remember they did rather well and some sold for more than their purchase price (these were still tagged).

Pannacotta · 26/01/2010 21:23

friday glad you sold your shoes (I posted on one of your thread I think).
Can I ask what the site is called?

I don't think I'd recommend ebay for selling designer goods, I have had lots of problems on there recently, as a buyer not seller, but still there are a lot of odd people who use ebay and it's perhaps easier just to avoid it...

faustina · 26/01/2010 22:02

it would be great to avoid ebay, but what is the alternative? When you're selling something quite pricey like a mulberry, what do you do about payment?
