Can you wear a pencil skirt when you have a sticky out tummy?

I wore a skirt today for the first time in ages and forgot how nice they were. I have one knee length skirt so need to get more. If not to a pencil skirt, ideas would be good. TIA.

Course you can.

Curves lovely, wherever they are. Slight belly and a lovely sticky out bum essential for pencil skirt gorgeousness.

Meant to accentuate womanly curves, not skinniness.

Bet you look lovely

NoFlysOnMe · 21/01/2010 20:47

IMO it is not a good look. go for ones with fitted wasitbands and fuller skirts till you are truly fab!

NoFlysOnMe · 21/01/2010 20:48

of course, it depends on just how sticky out your stomach is....

Bobbiewickham · 21/01/2010 20:48

Disagree!

FabIsGoingToBeFabIn2010 · 21/01/2010 20:48

Links would be lovely .

a small sticky-out tummy is fine in a pencil skirt

curves look great...you need them for this style

your dh will have his eyes out on stalks !

a bit fat pot belly though...no, I don't think so

Cyb · 21/01/2010 20:49

fuller skirts make people look...fuller and therefore bigger. I say go for a pencil. i ahve a huuuuuge arse and I wear one

NoFlysOnMe · 21/01/2010 20:49

bobbie i agree with "Slight belly and a lovely sticky out bum" but not huge stomach and arse or huge stomach and no arse...

OP - we need a pic really

LetThemEatCake · 21/01/2010 20:50

Marilyn was hardly the poster girl for six-packs and she rocked a pencil skirt.

LetThemEatCake · 21/01/2010 20:50

sticky out, yes. Overhang, no.

BelleDameSansMerci · 21/01/2010 20:50

I think you can wear a pencil skirt with a bit of a tummy - all adds to the curvaceous gorgeousness. Look at some photos of Marilyn Monroe if you need convincing!

NoFlysOnMe · 21/01/2010 20:50

oops xpost with cyb

FabIsGoingToBeFabIn2010 · 21/01/2010 20:51

My bum is fab.

My tummy is not.

I am bored with my jeans.

Yes, thinking more Marilyn than Beth Ditto.

Then again, full of confidence and talent, would rather be Beth than somebody full of bones and angst like

morningpaper · 21/01/2010 20:51

we can judge a pic

massive arse fine, if not essential

belly depends on degree of curvature

southeastastra · 21/01/2010 20:51

i have never owned a perfect pencil skirt, they always look better on other women than me

Cyb · 21/01/2010 20:53

mine is a tad Herve Leger, not in bandages but very stretchy and lycra-y (?)

morningpaper · 21/01/2010 20:53

also tit/arse ratio v. important in determining degree of belly allowed

Bobbiewickham · 21/01/2010 20:54

It's a question of confidence and firmness.

If we're talking foldover, maybe not.

If we're talking lovely sexy hillocky mummy tummy, go for it!

Cyb · 21/01/2010 20:54

Ah yes the ol' t/a percentage. it's crucial

Bobbiewickham · 21/01/2010 20:55

Yes, tit/arse ratio can have a bearing.

You need to aim for the S shape. Or do I mean 5 shape?

Oh, you know what I mean. Backwards S.

morningpaper · 21/01/2010 21:00

yah S shape rather than ermm duck shape

Cyb · 21/01/2010 21:03

I think I might be a 6 shape (side on)

FabIsGoingToBeFabIn2010 · 21/01/2010 21:04
