Do you mean put Y if it appears to be stereotypically something that boys tend to wear? And N if a "girl" thing? What about ones that I would be likely to dress either DS or DD in?

SherriHewsonsNipple · 21/01/2010 15:03

have had this thread before about 3 zillion times

nothing chnages

MrsMattie · 21/01/2010 15:04

I wouldnt say any of those are stereotypical.

Usual suspects:

Diggers, trucks, in fact any type of vehicle.

Emergency service themes (police car, fireman etc)

Surfing-related stuff

Pirates

Football (and increasingly other types of sport)

LowLevelWhingeing · 21/01/2010 15:05

YANBU to be sick of stereotypiacl boys' clothes.

YABU to think that I'm gonna go through that list!

LowLevelWhingeing · 21/01/2010 15:06

heheh, ahem. stereotypical

SherriHewsonsNipple · 21/01/2010 15:07

depends on their age too

NoahAndTheWhale · 21/01/2010 15:07

Yes, the ist is too long. And time to get DS from school. But may return later.

suwoo · 21/01/2010 15:10

Nappyaddict, you have started threads like this before with long lists haven't you? Are you trying to design some tops of your own?

My two DS's only wear plain tops, I like the ones from H&M best.

GypsyMoth · 21/01/2010 15:11

things are getting better clothes wise though.

i love the checked shirts that are everywhere....for girls AND boys!

nappyaddict · 21/01/2010 15:26

suwoo It's something I have thought about and would like to consider doing in the future but don't have the time at moment. It's good to keep coming back and checking what people's opinions are though in case I ever do it.

noah Y is if it's a typical boy thing. N if it's not a typical boy thing (so either a girl thing or something for both)

MrsM What other sports do you think are boy ones?

Tennis
Swimming
Badminton
Cricket
Hockey
Rugby
Rounders

I don;t want pictures or themes on any of my DS's clothes.

I just want plain clothes in nice colours. Not sludge colours.

And stripes. I like striped. Luckily I know where to get him brightly coloured stried clothes.

There is lots out there. It's not all football and army camouflage ala Next.

overmydeadbody Where do you get your DS's striped tops from?

I have a further requirement, they must be close fitting (like no added sugar) I hate the 'squareness'of tops from places like Next.

MissWooWoo · 21/01/2010 20:15

eh?!!!

suwoo · 21/01/2010 22:06

Is that to me or the OP?

southeastastra · 21/01/2010 22:07

say what

nappyaddict · 22/01/2010 00:37

OMDB What about pictures that are patterns though iyswim? Rather than one big picture lots of little ones all over? That's what I was thinking of doing if possible. Like this but not cars.

suwoo · 22/01/2010 14:22

I like your Zapp . I am the worlds fussiest shopper (for boys) and I really like that top, I would like similar ones with repetitive patterns.

nicolamumof3 · 22/01/2010 17:29

They are my pics you've just linked nappy!!

nicolamumof3 · 22/01/2010 17:29

suwoo that top is smafolk btw. you should also try toby tiger if you like stripes.

suwoo · 22/01/2010 17:37

Ooh how rude of you nappy , are you selling that Zapp nicola?

Yes, I like smafolk and all the other skanda stuff. Yes, I like Toby Tiger, they are all a bit pricy though aren't they?

nicolamumof3 · 22/01/2010 17:43

no i sold that suwoo.

toby tiger not too bad they are nice and thick cotton.

wilbur · 22/01/2010 17:55

Agree that there are some good places that do plain or striped stuff for small boys, but what happens when they reach 5 or 6 and there are fewer and fewer options? Where do parents who dislike camouflage/sludge/skulls/sk8ter stuff buy their boys' clothes? That don't cost all the money?

wilbur · 22/01/2010 18:14

Nappyaddict - although I prefer plain clothes and non-standard boys colours, I thought I would do a quick go through your list, just take my gut reaction, have put Y N as requested but also U for Unisex. Although I would say this is thinking about small boys, I'm unlikely to buy a top with a caterpillar on it for 9 yr old ds1.

Gorillas Y
Apes U
Alligators Y
Zebras U
Pandas U
Whales U

Did you put goats in twice as a test [grin?]

So, I guess I think most things, esp animals are suitable for boys and girls.
