a big thank you for all the suggestions last night. in the end i bought this
i'm hoping it looks a bit Audrey Hepburn on me and though it is not one of the ones you fabulous ladies suggested it is thanks to someone on yesterday's thread that i bought it as they gave me confidence to try something strapless. i never thought i could get away with it but it looked good in the changing room! now all i need to worry about is shoes. suggestions gratefully received! high heeled black?

dress gorgeous. Definitely black heels, maybe peep-toe?

SerenityNowAKABleh · 20/01/2010 21:41

Oooh, it's beautiful.

Yes, high heeled. I think you could wear strappy sandals (probably not right now, you might get a bit cold) or black as suggested, or else a very bright colour. As the dress is effectively black and white, you have tons of options! You could also get a clutch purse to match the shoes.

Nice dress! I am lusting after the AS one from last night- I need someone to get married

Shoe budget?

PoppityPing · 20/01/2010 21:49

And invite me of course, or it wouldn't work

PoppityPing · 20/01/2010 22:01

I love Chie Mihara

All of them

purpleduck · 20/01/2010 22:06

Bright red shiny shoes

kissmummy · 20/01/2010 22:09

thanks, glad you like it! it's quite daring for me. shoe budget is not more than £120 i don't think. that would be a very expensive pair of shoes for me, but i will get a lot of wear out of a great pair of black shoes, unlike the dress which may only have one outing unless i have some sort of dramatic lifestyle change and start going to lots of parties
there are good shoes in the sales at the moment though i'll be lucky to find any my size now (5 or 6). karen millen has some lovely ones.

purpleduck as it happens i have some bright red shiny shoes so i will try it on with them and see...but my instinct is definitely black.

worryingly I like those

Or something like this

PoppityPing · 20/01/2010 22:12

a bit quirky

I have these, they are fab for standing up in a long time

similar without ankle strap

Audrey shoes!

purpleduck · 20/01/2010 22:14

?

purpleduck · 20/01/2010 22:16

LOOK!!

Love those!

kissmummy · 20/01/2010 22:18

purpleduck i like those too in theory. the bow would match the dress really well, but i know from experience that straps like that one, across the foot, make me look stumpy. i'm only 5ft 4in.

PoppityPing · 20/01/2010 22:19

bit different

purpleduck · 20/01/2010 22:20

oooh
I always imagine that everyone else can walk in heels....

kissmummy · 20/01/2010 22:21

purpleduck oh wow! i LOVE those ones from Ted Baker on asos! i see they're only available in size6 - i might snap them up now! this board is dangerous. i am getting all sorts of expensive ideas.

OP posts:
PoppityPing · 20/01/2010 22:21

simple bit over budget but yum

PoppityPing · 20/01/2010 22:23

Jimmy Choo

kissmummy · 20/01/2010 22:24

poppity bet those are really soft and comfortable. but quite expensive for 'faux leather" ie plastic

OP posts:
purpleduck · 20/01/2010 22:24

only 5'4" you got 3 inches on me

PoppityPing · 20/01/2010 22:26

Ooo, blimey! Didn't spot that- of course she wouldn't use leather!

kissmummy · 20/01/2010 22:27

love the jimmy choos and would love to own a pair, not least for the cachet...
only available in big sizes i think
ok i'm going to bed now, before i break the bank! thanks for all the suggestions!

All Saints

DrivenToDistraction · 20/01/2010 22:31

I'm not having much luck this evening...

maybe?

possibly too 'matchy'

very simple peep-toe

patent

kellze · 20/01/2010 22:32

I love this dress, was actually considering it for my wedding with a change of colour for the bow.
