a big thank you for all the suggestions last night. in the end i bought this
i'm hoping it looks a bit Audrey Hepburn on me and though it is not one of the ones you fabulous ladies suggested it is thanks to someone on yesterday's thread that i bought it as they gave me confidence to try something strapless. i never thought i could get away with it but it looked good in the changing room! now all i need to worry about is shoes. suggestions gratefully received! high heeled black?

I LOVE a good shoe thread

[sigh]

Kurt Geiger

PoppityPing · 20/01/2010 22:48

platform

PoppityPing · 20/01/2010 22:49

Hmm, just realised I might be getting the EU size wrong, is a 40 a 6?

Clure · 21/01/2010 16:51

think its a 7. The kurt geiger ones in black are fabulous and would look stunning with the dress

kissmummy · 21/01/2010 16:52

kellze i thought it would make a nice wedding dress too - a snip at £150! half made me wonder why i spent ten times that much on my wedding dress years ago! it actually comes with a cream sash as well as the black one.
love the kurt geiger shoes poppity but they're all sold out
Shoes are quite easy compared to finding dress - at least i hope they will be.

they have these lovlies in a 7

PoppityPing · 21/01/2010 18:16

Oh drat, I should be looking for a 38/39 for you then kiss? Sorry, have been linking to loads that are probably sold out in your size

Will resolve this after tea and bed duties...

kissmummy · 21/01/2010 19:52

yeah this board is absolutely addictive! i ended up not getting to bed till 12.30 last night cos i got so sucked into looking at all the websites people posted links to. dangerous! i need size 38 or 39. Almost everything seems sold out in the sales in my size. though i am still lusting over some shoes that i found on outnet which i posted separately about (thread is called 'what do you think of these crazy shoes?'). they have nothing whatsoever to do with my party next week - obviously they wouldn't go with the dress. and i don't need them. but....! they are really special. i told myself if they were still available tomorrow morning i would buy them...

but actually on reflection i must have taken leave of my senses. £220 on a pair of shoes ?! - totally unjustifiable, really, whatever way you look at it. it would be double the most i've spent on shoes. i mean, they're only shoes! not exactly going to change my life! Etc.

You're right on both counts kiss, great shoes, beyond frivolous price!

You could always make it easier on the conscience by buying ethical shoes

It is awful though isn't it? Ooo, not a good turn of thought on S&B

PoppityPing · 21/01/2010 21:45

Terra Plana

so no £220 shoes for me. i've talked myself out of it. tax bill beckons + it would be madness. oh well, it was a nice little fantasy
thanks for all the suggestions. too risky to buy online at this late stage methinks so i will hit the shops on monday afternoon and see what's around. anyway the idiots in Debenhams where i bought my dress at the Coast concession have managed to leave the security tag on - thank goodness i tried the dress on again at home last night or i'd have had to go to my party with a great white plastic circle attached to my outfit. so i have to trek all the way back to the shop (well over an hour's journey) to get it removed. an excuse for more window shopping.
