There seems to have been a digression from the original intention of Penth's very worthy thread so, rather than cause anyone any offence or detract from what Penth and others were setting out to achieve, would anyone like to do a thread in a similar vein? Discussing potential purchases (advising each other for/ against in sensible fashion!!) and talking about how we're wearing existing pieces etc

Am off to Sunday lunch with friends but will check back in later.

Wearing purple Tam Tam dress, grey opaques, grey slouch suede boots, charcoal travelwrap for discreet bfing. Pretty exited about the sunshine so nearly cracked out the new OP sunnies but am saving for summer proper

have a good day all

Morning ladies!

My God, this thread moves faster than Speedy Gonzales... Had hens' do (not mine!) on Sat night, so wore gorgeous orange ruffle neck wool jacket and multi coloured baby doll dress w black tights and patent Mary Jane heels. But most importantly, who should I see in Soho? Mr Alexander McQueen. Def highlight of the weekend!! That and baby DD learning to pull herself up to standing.

Wearing denim mini, hot pink Havaianas and black scoop neck l sleeve T, slutty underwear (thanks Primark - its v good for that!) and disco earrings. The latter 2 are making me smile despite crappy grey, wet Monday.

Islington ladies - I used to live in Lonsdale Square, so know your stomping ground well. Am off to the next Jumble & Pearls sale so will be returning like a homing pigeon...

Too many posts to comment on. Although:

esher - j'adore those boots (perfect!!) and coat (esp in red - incredible!).

Thanks for all the tips, despite mainly lurking, I am reading and learning, ladies, reading and learning...

monkeysmama · 25/01/2010 11:36

Tracey I do like those though my worst buy of the winter was Steve Madden boots.

Hana yes I have a dressing room with a shoe wardrobe . My ex-h built it for me. Well, I say a dressing room - it's our spare room with fitted wardrobes, a rail, a chest of drawers that dp and I share and my shoe wardrobe. Don't know what we'll do if we're successful and creating LO 2 next year. She'll have to share a room with dd or the clothes.

Ha ha, am opposite to everyone - LTEC I think no to the dress and yes to the boots!

LetThemEatCake · 25/01/2010 11:55

tracey - IME Steve Madden comes up small.

anyone else care to venture an opinion on my potential Toast purchases? hana can you talk me through the dress, I fear it looks a little sacklike, what do you think? Also, what are your reservations re boots? (for which link I thank you, fellow yeti dexter!)

OP posts:
Mimi1977 · 25/01/2010 11:56

LTEC - wish you hadn't posted that!! Love them both by the way.

What do you all think of these? Really want some dresses for day wear to get me out of my jeans....

This dress "www.toast.co.uk/product/archive/C1E8D/alina+dress.htm?categoryref=%2fcategory2.aspx%3fcategoryid%3da rchive%26seoterm%3darchive%2520sale%26nopaging%3dtrue%26&pcat=archive ,

More will follow....heavy traffic so site keeps crashing. Think it's down to you lot!

traceybath · 25/01/2010 12:01

LTEC - I think dress a little droopy but do like the boots I think.

Blimey all the good stuff going quickly on nap - roxanne cropped jeans down to £25 but sold out.

monkeysmama · 25/01/2010 12:01

I am not mad keen on those boots LTEC though they are a bargain.

I love the dress but it's grey so I would. I am sorry but I going to steal your idea and buy it (I am bigger than you so won't take your one if you go for it). I'll wear it with grey opaques, a big grey and pale pink animal print scarf and black flat boots.

PCPlumIsMyHomeboy · 25/01/2010 12:07

LTEC, the boots YES! Can't open the other

LetThemEatCake · 25/01/2010 12:33

ah, sod it. Website keeps crashing and when I phoned, we got halfway through the order before the line went dead. Then when I phoned back, they said no phone orders, website only! universe obv trying to tell me something ... no more spending this month cake!!

Thank God Toast website crashing,or I would defy my ban on winter clothes buying!
Am going to agree with monkeysmama about Marks ballet pumps and scarf, and don't deem them winter so...
DH is a doctor.Has absolutely zero interest in clothes,but luckily I have 3 DD's!
(and this thread,which I adore)
Today am wearing
Teal tee from New Look
Warehouse teal/purple/black dress
Topshop black leggings
Purple long necklace
Favourite teal/purple/silver scarf
Ancient Boden long wool cardigan in purple when out and about.
Saw a gorgeous Nicole Fahri dress in You agzine yesterday, ticked the right boxes for spring, silk, softly draping over tummy, fitted at top,v neck....in navy with fab pink/yellow/white print....was expensive though, but not in Anglomania territory

hellsbelles · 25/01/2010 13:09

you lot have broken the toast website - I can't get onto any of the links.

Bunny - I'm literally round the corner from where you were (which is very nice btw ) are the houses as big inside as they look? Not sure whether I should lust after them or not? I fear though they are too many levels...which I'm already fed up of where I am.

tracey - shall await the top shop mini skirt verdict!

mrsjuan · 25/01/2010 13:15

Those toast boots are nice - I managed to get some in my size in my basket but now website has crashed.

They look as if they would be quite slim on the calf though so maybe it's for the best

traceybath · 25/01/2010 13:17

Toast just doesn't do it for me I'm afraid. I'm too small and I find it all a bit droopy/shapeless.

However have just realised I've got £100 credit from boden from late returned sale stuff so am thinking of these shoes in purple

eshermummy · 25/01/2010 13:21

got to be quick - waiting for inlaws to arrive, will be back later tonight to comment properly

have we kiled the toast site then?

I have been trying to checkout and pay for the last hour

the universe is speaking to me too (but I'm not listening lalalalalalala )

Mimi1977 · 25/01/2010 13:27

In love with two dresses on toast and having palpatations as keeps crashing!! Do their sizes come up big or small? Arrggghhhh!!!

Love the purple shoes Tracey by the way.

GeorginaWorsley · 25/01/2010 13:34

Love those shoestracey

LetThemEatCake · 25/01/2010 13:55

cute shoes tracey I am a sucker for purple

am quite relieved re Toast as had vowed no more winter. Also suspect that that dress would have become my "I'm feeling sh*t about myself but must make an effort so will wear a dress" dress. Want to avoid those sorts of purchases, bargainous or not!!

DHL just arrived but can't open yet as busy building a den and bfing ....

OP posts:
hellsbelles · 25/01/2010 13:57

tracey - very nice shoes

Just rung Brora to chase my sale order and they are still packing it? I ordered it ages ago. Suspect it'll be summer by the time I get it.

eshermummy · 25/01/2010 14:06

inlaws late
dd2 fallen asleep (still poorly, got referred to paediatrician today )

managed to get my toast archive things
actually very pleased that didn't sucumb to various dresses that were barginas but only left in black (new buying rule=no more black)

can't bloody open anyone's links to toast as site as keeps crashing

I thought the brogues (various styles) were at a good price to experiment with (would have but none in my size). In fact the chunky boots=great value but none left in a 37 (just as well really I suppose)

bought oxford bags trousers (had liked at full price but too ££)
2 long sleeve t's - one ivory, one yellow = therefore spring purchases
long multicoloured hoops necklace
tweed jacket - not sure, may be great , may be . Is brown which is not preferred colour (would've preferred grey) and not sure if will be boyf shape enough - no model pic to check fit so bit of wild card but will send back if no good.

Quick squizz at NAP but either sold out in my size or too £££££

LetThemEatCake · 25/01/2010 14:11

oooooh

OP posts:
eshermummy · 25/01/2010 14:12

traceybath - those purple shoes are lovely. I also like the silk ruffled clutch this season. I don't like boden clothes but the shoes, bags and belts are often very good.
My real issue with boden though is that I live very near one of their shops (as well as slap bang in the middle of a boden demographic hotspot) so round here it is practically the uniform. In summer, you can't move for hotchpotch dresses, sassy skirts and ruffle t's on the school run

LetThemEatCake · 25/01/2010 14:13

forget that, too shiny - looks cheap

I like this
