Are lovely black boots excusable?? Lovely Fly London bikerish boots like I got for my Christmas?!

Cos if I can't wear them with jeans then what on earth do I wear them with?!

I think that's a totally bizarre rule

denim goes with absolutely everything

PirateCatintheXmasHat · 26/12/2009 21:54

biker boots were made to go with denim.

it's a shite rule.

Flame · 26/12/2009 21:54

i have worn many colours of boots with denim over the years. Not once have I been struck down by lightening or heard gasps of horror in the playground. go for it

carciofi · 27/12/2009 12:01

I often wear black boots with denim. Did not realise that I was committing a fashion faux pas.

fanjolina · 27/12/2009 12:03

its a bullshit rule.

I think it was made up on MN for a joke.

ChloeHandbag · 27/12/2009 12:19

it's not all black boots that are wrong, just a certain type.
this sort of thing

PirateCatintheXmasHat · 27/12/2009 13:42

yes, that would be very wrong.

brimfull · 27/12/2009 13:44

yes it doesn't include biker type boots

just the ones like chloe linked

boudoiricca · 27/12/2009 13:46

I am a firm believer in the no black boots and demin rule. It is just wrong - see for example for justification. However, I suspect there may be a caveat for biker boots - depending on demin colour also obv.

boudoiricca · 27/12/2009 13:47

first "for" = "Chloe"

Utter toss. It's a non rule, made up by silly people on MN who think they know what they're talking about. Wear whatever the hell you like

noddyholder · 27/12/2009 14:00

iTS NONSENSE!

Caz10 · 27/12/2009 14:07

Wellllll I thought it was nonsense, however I do truly agree with it when I see the boots Chloe has linked to

Mine are more along this line, can't find the exact ones...

big boots mine are not turquoise obviously

boudoiricca you obviously take this important issue seriously , do you reckon dark denim?

skinny leg??

Spaceman · 27/12/2009 14:14

Is this another one of those fashion rules like not wearing brown and black together?

I have knee length suede black boots and I wear them with denim. I wouldn't, however, wear black leather shoes with denim as I do believe that to be wrong.

tackyChristmastreedelivery · 27/12/2009 14:15

Am also wondering about the black knee boot over skinng leg jeans thing [my uniform].

I live in the Duo boots I bought from a mumsnetter.

franke · 27/12/2009 14:25

I don't understand this. I don't understand why Chloe's boots would be all wrong with denim. Can someone please explain? [old fogey emoticon]

SixtyFootDoll · 27/12/2009 14:36

fahion 'rules' are for people that have no individul style.

noddyholder · 27/12/2009 15:00

pretty much my winter uniform

noddyholder · 27/12/2009 15:02

more this actually Looks ok why does it bother people?

MangoMama · 27/12/2009 15:36

Yes I remember another 'fashion rule' that said that pink and orange should never go together... you try and tell that to Yves Saint Lauren!

purplepeony · 27/12/2009 16:41

I think what looks very mumsny and middle aged, are very plain, black ankle length boots, with a small heel, or flat, and dark boot cut jeans. Sadly, that used to me me, but now I have seen sense- andwear chunky black biker boots in tan, or chunky bikers in black, or brown leather trainer-style shoes.

purplepeony · 27/12/2009 16:42

sorry- not black biker boots in tan- biker boots in tan and black.

VicarInaTinselTuTu · 27/12/2009 17:05

someone forgot to tell me this rule. i have broken it on more than one occasion. today actually i broke it again to go visit some elderly folks who i used to live near....i bet they laughed and pointed at me all the way back to the car. silly silly me!

who decides what can be worn with what? they forgot to tell me obviously!
