So if UGG type boots are uncool what do you wear in the cold/snow?

I used to have a pair of really toasty warm UGG type boots from Just Sheepskin company that I wore in the snow etc as I have long walks to work and school run etc but they seem to have disappeared! I want to buy something to replace them that has a decent sole so I won't end up flat on my face but that are really warm and don't look too bad for work/en route. Any ideas?

upahill how can you run through the icey bits! I'd break a leg ... and have a heart attack .. I am not a runner!

You see I'm not really bothered about being stylish. Being warm and dry is top of my list, followed by comfy, followed by practical and not too costly since I have two young children a dog and cat constantly crawling all over me. Stylish comes way down the list.

My boots are probably both uncool and ugly, but they do all of the above. I don't like ugg boots because they don't keep my feet dry.

I don't drive and walk everywhere. Come rain or hail, plus they are good for walking the dog in.

Yes I have the Rocket Dog ones, mine are a lovely plum colour which they don't seem to have anymore. Room for jeans unless you have really wide calves. Really warm.

upahill · 17/12/2009 12:02

Boddidly.. The trick is to park near the door!! I haven't got so far to run then

MrsMattie · 17/12/2009 12:04

sputnik ... do they come up big or small .. there seem to be fairly contradictory reviews on size! I am probably a 4.5 so I was going to go for a 5 unless they come up big!

Reeealllly? I do hope so as I know someone who can get me those boots cheaper.

If they go over my fat calves that is.

Sputnik · 17/12/2009 13:32

True to size for me (6)

ChatterClausIsComingToTown · 17/12/2009 14:00

I wear apres ski boots in snow and ice. Grips on the soles are really good so less thrills and spills all round. prob not the most fashionable but would would not look too stylish going arse over tit either.

pyjamababe · 17/12/2009 17:35

FatFace has got some lovely boots in for the winter season. Was very tempted the other day but 7 months pregnant so waiting until feet have shrunk back to a size 6... Not techie enough to do a website link though sorry

CMOTdibbler · 17/12/2009 20:47

I've got the DM ones that Mario linked to further up. I bought them specifically for when I go to Finland for work, and they are fab - warm, waterproof, and very stable. And if they are OK in -13'C, then they are OK in the UK

luckywinner · 17/12/2009 21:02

Amazon has the Cat boots for £49.99 I just ordered some!

ImSoNotTelling · 17/12/2009 21:06

I tried those DMs on they're lovely, but my feet were the wrong shape for them dammit

JamesAndTheGiantBanana · 17/12/2009 21:12

I am wearing fake crocs as I can't afford new shoes Luckily I don't have to leave the house much.

TheHappyCat · 17/12/2009 21:58

Lucky winner and spare change thank you thank you! I have just treated myself to the half price CATs too. Perfect for the nursery schlep. Fingers crossed they fit

vjg13 · 17/12/2009 22:35

I have the Cat boots and they are fantastic! Only paid about £65 so don't feel too upset about the new low price. They are wide fitting.

mmelindt · 18/12/2009 07:43

Are the CAT boots narrow in the calf area? I suspect they wont fit me

Can someone who has them measure them for me?

mmelindt · 18/12/2009 07:47

LOVE these but they are a bit pricey.

foofi · 18/12/2009 07:48

I've got the Fitflop boots, but I'm afraid this weather it's wellies for me!

FolornHope · 18/12/2009 07:48

i cant see how the other wise delicious rocket dog boots are good in snow

mmelindt · 18/12/2009 07:59

It was hiking boots this morning in the snow.

I do like Duo boots and they have the advantage of being available in different calf widths.

Just wish they had one with a furry lining.
