I've fallen in love with Anthropologie

I was shopping in London yesterday and decided to visit the store - having previously drooled over the website.

OMG. There wasn't a single thing in there that I didn't like. 3 levels of absolute gorgeousness. If you are shopping near Regent Street, it is definitely worth a visit

I was very well behaved though. Just bought a gift for a friend. I send DH a text message saying "go in and buy ANYTHING!!" Cue very happy DH who now feels relaxed about going into a store about which I had written on my christmas list "any item of gorgeousness from Anthropologie"

linky

LukaSweetBabyJesus · 15/12/2009 19:28

Duh - I thought you were talking 'anthropology' and were here to analyse our behaviour on Style on Beauty or something, in a holistic way of course

Off to google anthropologie

MrsBadger · 15/12/2009 19:29

I went into the one in Philadelphia about 10 years ago and swooned at almost every item

haven't dared let myself go to the UK one

AitchTwoToTangOh · 15/12/2009 19:29

it's ridiculously over priced and a bit wafty for my liking, but yes, they do have some nice bits.

LukaSweetBabyJesus · 15/12/2009 19:33

You're right -love it

My dh may bump into yours I think in store

tulpe · 15/12/2009 19:49

Aitch - I agree, the prices are v steep but I like the vintage feel of everything. However, would be gutted if spotted someone else in same dress etc!! Would be just my luck!

Luka - my DH will be the one looking for the cheapest item of gorgeousness

LukaSweetBabyJesus · 15/12/2009 20:04

Hope they don't fight over it

Stylelostinlabour · 15/12/2009 20:24

OMG - Why have I never ever seen this site, I want it all, give me it all

Right off to do a list for DH

Love the loungewear

I will be forever grateful for this post

Reminds me of an expensive Noa NOa.

Stylelostinlabour · 15/12/2009 20:32

I've just added that dress to my shopping basket!

Tulpe - good deed for the year completed!

Stylelostinlabour · 15/12/2009 20:33

Whats the sizing like do you think?

tulpe · 15/12/2009 20:37

I would say it runs true to size (altho tbh, I didn't dare try anything on because I knew I wouldn't leave the store without it!!).

If you like their loungewear, can I recommend another store Hush? Tis also totally gorgeous and has featured massively on my gift list. I also ordered the Henley dress in Old Rose for myself which arrived today. It is just lovely

Love it love it. The stuff is truly gorgeous but the quality of non-knitwear stuff isn't great enough to justify the high prices. If you know anyone in the US, order from the web and have it sent to them to forward to you as the duty and postage is so high if you have it sent from the company. The clothing is also cheaper.

fishie · 15/12/2009 20:59

tulpe you missed the best bit if you didn't try on. they have the most amazingly flattering fitting rooms. i didn't want to come out.

willie you don't have to like the stuff, it is a really good shopping experience.

and now i am off to watch glee hooray.

CristinaTheAstonishing · 15/12/2009 21:16

I had a look through the window only (it was past midnight) but wasn't too keen. Too twiggy (as decoration and "feel").

CristinaTheAstonishing · 15/12/2009 21:24

If you some of these clothes categories described like this in Boden you'd puke. Here goes:

The Delicate Kind
Cherished Whites
Giftable Sweaters
Christmas Memories
Sleep Outfits
Marvels & Wonders
Leifsdottir
Denim Decoder

CristinaTheAstonishing · 15/12/2009 21:28

A bag is not just a bag, it's "Reach for Miss Albright's vintage-inspired carryall for a trip to the market to buy a baguette, cheese and a bottle of wine for a river-side picnic." Clever marketing, selling another "dream". Don't start another MN obsession. (Some stuff is OK and not too hideously expensive.)

fishie · 15/12/2009 21:31

but they have got a living wall. and many staircases. it is fairyland...

all their skirts have got really weird bits on the sides. and it is $-£ no transatlantic discount.

CristinaTheAstonishing · 15/12/2009 21:34

"all their skirts have got really weird bits on the sides." Like Per Una?

Francagoestohollywood · 15/12/2009 21:34

I bought the most perfect pair of skinny jeans in Anthropologie in the US 3 yrs ago. Strong pound, weak dollar. I'm still wearing them. A bargain

marthastewart · 15/12/2009 21:36

It's very beautiful... I'm all for fairyland!
Soooo dreamy, like avoca anthology
