Birkenstocks: I thought they were supposed to be comfy???

Never occurred to me they could hurt my feet! Got a pair of Madrids (the single strap type) - they're hurting the upper part of my feet, where the strap is - it's very hard. Is it me, or what???

the first pain of birkenstocks i got were incredibly painful - i felt positively cheated! do persevere though, you have to wear them in & then they really do become super comfy. i haven't worn anything else since about march this year....

Earlybird · 27/06/2005 15:13

I can completely sympathise, franch. I got some for the first time this year too. Mine are the double straps, so different to yours. They're comfortable for short distances, but I got a few huge blisters from wearing them too long on one of the hot days last week. Here's hoping they'll be more comfortable soon because I was counting on them being the summer shoes I'll "live" in ....

motherinferior · 27/06/2005 15:14

I belted along in mine the other day and they hurt the soles of my feet. Am currently in Repulsively Sensible footwear, it's so embarrassing.

Oi, HC, aren't you supposed to be giving birth around now???

puddle · 27/06/2005 15:16

I've got thong ones and they are super-comfy (if your toes are hardened to flip-flops...)

gingerbear · 27/06/2005 15:19

I do 'foot farts' in mine - dreadful noise they make when you walk.

welshmum · 27/06/2005 15:46

Mine hurt too but I'll persevere now I know they need breaking in.

Birkenstocjk advises that their footwear will hurt until the foot get used to the sole's style. But surely it doesn't have to be as bad as with badly fitted shoes, does it?

lou33 · 27/06/2005 15:49

get flip flops then dino, lots cheaper!

OldieMum · 27/06/2005 15:49

Mine hurt, too, when I first wore them. Now they are wonderfully comfortable. I forced DH to wear his yesterday for the first time and he said that they haven't broken in yet

misdee · 27/06/2005 15:51
