dh's response to this outfit was that I don't need to try and keep up with the young people anymore...is he right?

Hello.

Work do coming up and hoping to look half decent. I loved this this

with leggings and silver high heels. I'm only just over 30. Is it so terrible?!!

If it is,any suggestions welcome - I am pear-shaped,size 14,5 6, big bum, no boobs and my best features are my wrists (haha!)

Thank you!

it's lovely and definitely not a very young persons outfit

tethersend · 06/11/2009 17:00

WTF?

You'll look great in that... and it's from monsoon, not tammy girl ffs

OrmIrian · 06/11/2009 17:01

I think he must be a bit daft! Looks fine to me

Northernlurker · 06/11/2009 17:01

No that's lovely - you dh needs to get a grip!

BunnyLebowski · 06/11/2009 17:01

Tell me you are joking???

He's an eejit who clearly doesn't want you going out in that outfit because of how damn HOT you will look!!

The dress is gorgeous! Admittedly I would do opaques rather than leggings but your outfit sounds fab!

pinktortoise · 06/11/2009 17:03

It is lovely and leggings / heels are the right way to go. Never rely on a husband for matters of fashion...mine is certainly not "on trend". At 30 you are still one of the "young people". Much better seeking advice from a girlfriend who knows the difference between her "jeggings" and her elbow!

cornsilkwearscorsets · 06/11/2009 17:03

eh? How old is he?

tethersend · 06/11/2009 17:04

Agree with Bunny about tights not leggings...

Seededbiatch · 06/11/2009 17:05

I'm 30 too and very, very young with it so tell DH to fuck off and wear the dress, it's nice and it's from Monsoon which isn't a shop for young people, far too expensive for the yoof.

Kitsilano · 06/11/2009 17:05

Huh? I'd wear that and I'm 38...

RawChocolate · 06/11/2009 17:06

OMG - you guys have made my day!

Dh is a great guy and saved me from a disasterous wedding outfit in the Summer, so was genuinely worried.

Will try with opaques, thanks for the suggestion.

Tell your grandad DH you are a young person.

TheCrackFox · 06/11/2009 17:07

Snort, I don't think the young 'uns shop in Monsoon.

Not silver leggings unless you a size 8 (I am not, sob)

Heated · 06/11/2009 17:09

Wear it, you'll look fabulous.

Buy him a pair of elbow patches for Christmas.

RawChocolate · 06/11/2009 17:11

I thought being in your 30's was young, may punch dh for thinking its not

stillfrazzled · 06/11/2009 17:14

It's gorgeous and you're 30 FGS, not ninety! I'm 34 next bday and wear leggings all the time.

Buy it and wear it with pride, woman!

SixtyFootDoll · 06/11/2009 17:22

No one under 30 would shop in Monsoon for starters!
And that dress is gorgeous, someone esle on here was ordereing it yesterda.
I am 38 and am wearing jeggings today

MrsMotMot · 06/11/2009 17:30

LOL at elbow patches Heated.

Like everyone else, you'll look fab and from your OP you sound like you have a sense of humour and can carry off a 'youthful' look just fine.

Tights not leggings though.

InterruptingKid · 06/11/2009 18:14

great ideaq
love the idea

InterruptingKid · 06/11/2009 18:14

I remember in about 1996 me trying on my FIRSt pair of boot cut trews

dh looked at me and said " they are a bit young"
readers
I was 26

Heathcliffscathy · 06/11/2009 18:16

NO NO NO...stick to your original plan...leggings and heels will look FABULOUS with this tunic. remember that in fact leggings as we know them started out as exactly the trousers that go with tunic dresses in different cultures. it's a no brainer!

RawChocolate · 06/11/2009 19:36

Hi again.

Really appreciate all the responses, been making me laugh loads. Will get it tomorrow. Am inclined to go with the leggings, but will try tights too.

Thanks so much
