Could I wear this dress for work (teacher) ?

Have just stumbled across this dress in grey or orange.

I really like it (on the model!) but it is drescribed as a mini-dress.

On the other hand, I am only 5ft4 so I reckon it would almost be knee-length!

Whaddya think?

(also does it have sack-like potential? Am size 8-10)

Not too sure about it. Looks more PM to me than AM.

MrsBadger · 28/10/2009 20:26

I trhink on an 8-10 it won't be too sacky but it will be pretty damn short

free returns though, eh? what have you got to lose?

nightofthewakingdead · 28/10/2009 20:28

Well free returns to the uk but am in France.

I think I should probably avoid on-line shopping all together but it's just too tempting.

It's lovely Would be fine if worn with leggings and knee high flat boots.

I have a dress of similar length which is definitely more PM when worn with opaques and heels but is great when worn with leggings and flats for day.

Think I want that dress myself now

TheFallenMadonna · 28/10/2009 20:37

My Head would have words about the length for sure.

Heated · 28/10/2009 20:40

Worn with flats or low heeled boots, thick tights/leggings then yes. With high heels then no, imo.

nightofthewakingdead · 28/10/2009 20:40

Am at university not secondary but still lots of hormonal "teenagers"!

Would wear with knee-high boots but if it's mid-thigh I would not wear for work.

The dresses Asos suggest for work are these

...which wouldn't fit in in our environment at all, AND I think a lot of them are a bit "sexy".

OP posts:
ja9 · 28/10/2009 20:41

too short imo

nightofthewakingdead · 28/10/2009 20:42

Like this one too but was trying to get a bit of colour to look less deathly!

Hahaha just looked at those ASOS "work" dresses...
Where on earth would you be working to wear any of those??

nightofthewakingdead · 28/10/2009 20:45

Exactly Katisha!

OP posts:
nightofthewakingdead · 28/10/2009 20:47

Perhaps this pinafore would be a better look !

MrsBadger · 28/10/2009 20:56

well I odn;t know about you lot but we all dress like this every day in my lab

even the men

Heated · 28/10/2009 20:59

How else do you think I manage my classes?

notyummy · 28/10/2009 20:59

Yes, those ASOS 'work dresses' are what I would wear if going on work experience to Grazia magazine perhaps...

But in the average workplace, at least 50% are a big flat NO. Unless you want to mistaken for the strippergram that someone has hired for a birthday do....

nightofthewakingdead · 28/10/2009 21:01

Like this red number notyummy!

OP posts:
Heated · 28/10/2009 21:01

My ASOS workwear means they just gawp in stunned admiration; low level disruption a thing of the past.

notyummy · 28/10/2009 21:03

Ohh, yes nightofthelivingdead

nightofthewakingdead · 28/10/2009 21:03

DH told me about one of his teachers (secondary) who managed a difficult class by perching on her desk in a short skirt.

Apparantly they were all fighting for front-row seats

SOOOOO...

Back to really important things my dress - I have looked at it too much now (and at too many other hideous ones!) and need it.

Maybe I'll wear it at the weekend yeah right.

Grey or orange?

OP posts:
Katisha · 28/10/2009 21:07

Orange

Heated · 28/10/2009 21:09

Orange.

EyeOfFrogSpawnChorus · 28/10/2009 21:11

I LOVE that dress. Fine for work with flat boots imo. I want it, but it would be a pita for breastfeeding.

nightofthewakingdead · 28/10/2009 21:13

I will need you all to find me those tights though to go with the orange you know.

Don't talk about breastfeeding.

DS2 STILL feeding (2.8) which is why this is for work, not home.
