Anyone recommend good websites for unusual wedding dresses?

I found my dream dress on this site- tell me how much you love it!

Unusual in what way? I loved Charlotte Balbier when I was wedding dress shopping. Not mad out-there style dresses but not the normal a line strapless jobbies either.

It was about £900 and would have looked best on someone with smaller hips than me (am a pear shape) so didn't get it in the end

By unusual I mean diffent colours, shapes etc

I saw a nice black and white dress and it inspired me to look at something different.

BitofFun - we bought a house togehter a few years ago so we're skint so may have to have a tiny wedding (if we can afford to get married at all) so I want something memorable for my dress

AuntieMaggie, I'm planning to wear a 50s-style dress for my wedding next year, but before that I was looking at a purple silk maxi dress from Monsoon Originals range...we're on a budget as well and tbh the idea of wearing a big white floor-length gown that I can't move or dance easily in gives me the horror. Just wear whatever you want and whatever feels like 'you'.

You could always go down the pattern-and-seamstress route, that way you have total control and no one else will ever have quite the same thing

AuntieMaggie if you look at my profile you can see my wedding dress (I only got married in August). I wanted something I could wear again rather than just for the one day. It's an aubergine colour and was from Paul & Joe. I love it.

40s-50s is so on trend... I had a consultation at Candy Anthony at the beginning of the year and the style is soooo flattering.

However, the prices were eye-watering.

You say you're skint so to achieve the same effect you could find a local dressmaker and get one made? I know 'find a dressmaker' is not necessarily that simple; mine is, er, my mum, who's going to do a marvellous job and the dress will really mean a lot to me.

I've chosen a Vintage Vogue pattern in the longer sleeved version and my MOH and BM are having in the same ballerina length as me. We got the silk from an amazing grotto-like fabric shop in Dalston (off the veg market innit, darlin') and it was easily a third of the price per metre that you'd pay in a normal shop, and a quarter what you'd pay in John Lewis.

Ivory for me, darkish blue for the 'maids. Was flirting with contrasting petticoats (oh yeah, the full froufrou!) but too much scope for naffness. Might sew on a colourful hem to them though.

Yeah, I'm thinking of putting my bridesmaids in VoH dresses. Chief bridesmaid already has a v similar Dolly Dagger one and looks beyond stunning in it.

I ended up in something completely different (pic on profile). The skirt was lovely, pleated silk with a split overlay that had a loop to go 'round one of my fingers while I danced. My photographer was a no-show so I don't have any great pics of it.

Got it for £650 at a sample sale when I was mere days away from giving up on dresses and just wearing a nice, white suit.

Sample sales can be great actually, I was trying on trad wedding dresses yesterday, just for the lolz, and there was one that actually looked quite amazing on me. It was a little unusual too, very plain styling with a couple of big bold fabric flowers at the gather of the skirt. Originally £880, reduced to £360! Another I tried that was nice-ish (strapless dark cream satin) was down to £200, that's less than the dress I'm planning to buy (which was supposed to be a cheaper alternative to the trad wedding gown).

Oh god, I have become wedding-obsessed. Can you hear that whirring? That's the sound of my mum revolving in her grave at generating speed.

AuntieMaggie - my wedding dress cost £18 from an antique shop in Hay-on-Wye, so there is hope. For an unusual dress look in unusual places .

The one I looked at was this and the price was ~£3K. It is actually a dress with a separate full lace overlay and a sash. £2K for the under-dress, £950 for the lace overlay, and £50 for a sash.

I almost had a blue dress but in the end went for a very classic but unusual dress with blue shoes.
