I want my hair cut like Danni Minogue. Will the hairdresser think I am a knob if I say that?

I 32 (very nearly almost 33) with long brown hair a couple of inches below my shoulders. A round to oval face shape. Size 10-12. 5 ft ish.

AND, is it the type of hairstyle that will only look good if you have your own personal stylist on a daily basis?

You could go in and describe it

"I'd like it this length, with this sort of fringe" etc then say "oh! A bit like DM!" as if you've just thought of it

I like her hair loads and it really suits her.

A couple of years ago I got my hair cut to chin length and it has only just got back to my previous long length. I regretted having it chopped loads and loads, really missed having long hair.

That's just me though.

Who cares if they think you are a knob?! I'd say 'I want hair like Dannii minogue' and take a picture to be sure. I think explicit instructions are a good thing as far as hairdressers are concerned!

Yes, defo find an adventurous, quirky hairdresser I'd say, they will be able to see you in a new light that is different from the one your regular hairdresser sees.

I'm all for letting my hairdresser experiment on me.....within reason

I think taking photo in with you is the best idea. I have done that before (not a sleb pic, a pic from a magazine). The hairdresser might not be a fan of the XF and will not know what the current DM look is.

I think Dannii Minoggue had fab hair and you should deffo go in and have yours like hers.

As for asking the hairdresser to make it like Dannii's? Yes, take a picture too so as they have explicit instructions and don't use their memory/imagination and get it wrong.

Take a picture of DM with you. You may feel silly but you will feel a lot worse if you come out with a Deirdre Barlow instead

Whilst we are on the subject of Danniis hair.......what kind of instrument would one use to get those lovely loose curls she has had in her hair?

I have barrel tongs but they are mahoosive (bought in the days when BIG hair was seriously big....way back in the mid-90's ). They give my shoulder length, layered hair a wave but not a curl

You need a photo so that you come out with a bob and not her previous hairstyle

I like her hair better without the fringe. Either way it is much better than the old style, she looks so much better.

Take in photos I recently had all my hair chopped off in a 4 haircuts going shorter every time. Each time I took in magazines with pics of what I liked. MY hairdresser says its the best way. Make sure you have different pics of similar cuts so the hairdresser can really see what you like and ask her if she thinks its a good style for you will it suit you etc.

Oh I think her hair looks great too, go for it. I have had a similar cut and it's really versatile. To get the loose curls you can try using a curl cream product, twisting the hair into sections and keep twisting down the length of the hair so that it goes into ringlets. Leave it to dry and then loosen all the ringlets with your fingers and add a bit of serum for shine.

Tulpe - using GHD straighteners to produce curls can give lovely loose curls.

I love Dannii's hair - but I especally think it looks best on her when she has it dried smooth with the fringe.

And yes, just go clutching picture and say you want it like Dannii (when I had a kate miss fringe cut a year ago, I did just that and ended up with exactly what I wanted!)

Curl-wise sorry I think using GHDs for curls just gives too much of an inconsistant result. I use a conical wand and it is 100 time better than GHDs for curls (and alot better for your hair)

OK, i am convinced. I am booking a hair appointment with the suspiciously young looking white blonde punky looking hairdresser in the town.

I will report back. I may even do a photo if I can work out how to blank out my face.

I looove DM's hair, I woul get mine cut like that in a flash, but realstically my frzzy hair is never going to look as super smooth as hers does.

Tulpe - try looking on youtube for curling with straighteners (or GHDs), it gives the kind of curl that she has and holds for ages, there is just a little knack to doing it

I had mine cut like that last year, unfortunately instead of Danni M, I looked more like Anne Widdecombe

I really do not suit a fringe, but am considerably bigger than you!

I now have a one length bob and that suits me much better, no hassle at all.

Whoops - never saw your post jewels. I get on ok with the GHDs, take patience though
